Yep, it certainly looks that way.

From this we can conclude that the future growth of this site is based on gas.

Serotonin

Did you know that with every breath we take, 79% is nitrogen, 20% oxygen and 1% argon. The latter being a totally inert gas which is utilized, as is neon, in "neon lighting". What kind of 'gas' did you have in mind?

Crazy Dwarf

not only is it good to see another gas jockey, it's even better to know I'm not the only Fas Gas employee on the site now.

Since you are always right Serotonin, I thought I would point out that you really should have used the word "most" in that sentence instead. "Every" implies all, however, every other SCUBA trip I have a tank of Nitrox which contains between 32% - 38% oxygen, with the remainder being Nitrogen. :)

P.S. I'm well aware of my short guy syndrome… :)

Serotonin

I'm short. Never knew what it means 'syndrome'. My job deals with paradox and ambivalence. Hence, the precise nature of my postings. It's a counterfoil.

Pooga

every other SCUBA trip I have a tank of Nitrox

Doesn't that imply 'every second trip'??? What do you breathe the rest of the time?

dr

The rest of the time I breath regular compressed air; same as we normally breath. That was implied. :)

Done a few resort dives (12 metres max), but never really learned the tech aspects.

Why the different gas mixtures?

qxghscx

in a nut shell pressure. I'm not a diver yet, i hope to start taking courses soon, but that is why there are different gas mixtures. i could be wrong.

Well, while we're at it here's another one for you, Serotonin, I wonder about the air quality of working amongst smokers in a place where there is no special air ventilation, the carbon monoxide level must be higher I'm sure. There are also numerous 'smoking rooms' where the air is not ventilated to the outside. Just wondered.

Serotonin

A major occupational hazard. There must be studies out there, ex. Health Protection Branch, that has looked at CO and CO2 levels; they're easy to measure in the blood. I work in a large hospital that has banned smoking almost entirely. They have a small area outside my office window on the main floor of the hospital; very loud. Not so good for my paranoid patients. Ex. last week, my response to a new patient: "don't worry, I heard that too". True.

Idjit

Saskatchewan has this enshrined in our OHS regulations, but as far as I know, no one has actually made a complaint under the Act. If pressed, government officials would be have to act on a complaint though…

Pooga

It's just the way things evolve on our messages!

It started with mention of yet another gas jockey joining the site, I mentioned that our future depends on gas (although I was alluding to another kind!), got into breathing gases, then scuba breathing from there, and so on, till you asked for the meaning of life.

Serotonin

In my parlance, it's called 'derailment' and 'circumstantiality' but Pooga captured it more succinctly, it's all "gas" however you 'cut it'.

If you look at any of these more than 10 message starnds you will find that the topic change at least 3-6 times! Thats just how it is on here!

Quebec has the most smokers here as far as I know, yes I used to smoke but I since quit 5+ years ago, I work in a federal building and the people here smoke as often as possible in defiance of the law, the penalty is 3 days pay or $300, rarely enforced though. Not much I can do, but I come home smelly like I spent the night at a bar. Am not sure if the government is up to investigating itself though.

I don't know what they're called. But cows don't drink them.

Surely you don't mean LAGOONS?!? gasp
