I missed #'s 7(I don't smoke), 8, 9(not a clue), 17(I said 4), and 22(all my blinds have had both cords on the right side).

Here y'all are, right from the horses a__ er, I mean mouth:

The skinny on our southern neighbors
and…

…more skinny

…still more skinny

and finally, from the Truman Library website, a president who was adistant relative:

Congress meets in Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States. "D.C." stands for the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia is not a state. It is not in a state, either. It is a district which acts like a combination of a city and state. The District of Columbia is a unique area where national government business is conducted.

Where did you check??? I have been unable to locate any information that supports your claim that there are 51 states….

All of the current information available indicates that there are only 50 states. Even the web page for DC indicates that it doesn't enjoy the same priveleges extended to states.

There is one star per state on the US flag. That is what they represent. The 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies. Count the stars…there are 50!

According to some sources it is but I'm tired of this disagreement I still say 51

there are 50… just in case some poor school kid doing a report stumbles upon this thread. now, kids… it is always important to cite your sources – that way, we can check the veracity of your information. CIA World Factbook (click on "Government")

if you can't trust the CIA… who CAN you trust???? :)

now… if only you'd have said asterisk and octothorpe.. :)

So when the question came up, your immediate answer was ‘*’ and ‘#’, not asterisk and pound sign?

BTW, how many of you knew it was called an octothorpe?

IMHO, anyone who said - or thought - ‘pound sign’ is wrong, because there is no ‘₤’ on a standard telephone keypad.

You can say 51 or 93 or whatever you like… You are incorrect. You have been shown several sources that indicate only 50 and have provided none to back up your position. As rudyk so eloquently put it - cite your sources…

Interesting questions - some of which were automatic and others required me to 'take a look inside my head'. (I don't recommend it - it's a VERY awkward position to be in.)I had the most trouble with visualizing the soup label - since I don't use it that often. My mistakes?? I said 52 states instead of 50 - common error - had the NO SMOKING slash going the other way - and apparently have no idea what a paper clip looks like. LOL
