Difficulty writing on low value notes

Hey, I'm kind of new here but nonetheless here is my question.

I've been having difficulty with stamping the 5 and 10 dollar bills lately. I use a pen to write "track this note at:….", which works well on the 20 and 50 dollar notes, but not on the low value notes.

Anyone else experiencing this and anyone know why this is the case?

Thanks,

BDKINGSTON

You need stazon ink for the stamp on the 5's and 10's or permenant marker if you use a pen… They both have a plastic coating….

A stamp with StazOn ink works best. But if you prefer a pen, I like the FIGMA Micron05. It works best on older and more beat up notes, and is great on fresh ones too. I use it to mark American money whenever I visit the U.S.A.

I'm currently using a permanent marker to write on these plastic coated bills, so it is not a huge problem.

Its just odd that the Bank of Canada chose only to coat these bills rather than the 20's (which are more popular IMO).
