Hypothetically speaking, if one were to say stamp a $10 and try to enter it and it comes up with an error because the serial prefix doesn't match and other discrepancies on the bill make it doubtful it is actual currancy.
What would the chances be of passing it off (stamped) with out any repercussions to the said tracker. OR should the tracker take a $10 loss and turn it in?
All hypothetical of coarse

Well, it's all hypothetical right up to the part where you try to spend it and the store gets your licence plate number or your image on a surveilance tape. Then the real fun begins- and the folks that come callin' never operate under hypothetical rules.
Far better to turn it into the police station and tell them how you found out it was fake: good for you and good for the site.

although you might find cmt members (or member, rather) who condone income tax evasion and uttering threats, i don't think anyone here would suggest that knowingly passing a counterfeit is a good idea. the law is pretty specific and for good reason. idjit is perfectly correct – take it to the authorities with any information you can give them. it's only $10. and if you still feel the need to pass the bill, do NOT stamp it, because then you'll have BOTH the police AND the canadian-money-trackers after you. :)

if this was an actual event the prefix might be VFC and since this was to be a doomed bill the water test was applied and to be rendered to a swirl of ink, very recognizable in any place of business.
not to mention the bill's red CMT stamp already draws enough attention

i see it done in the bank with a $50 of mine.(before me being a tracker)
they held it over a white piece of paper, then drizzeled water on it. the red ran off it like i was stabbed….they didn't even let me kiss it goodbye, that really hurt
