Gulf War Part Deux

it could prevent

And then again it might not. Without a civil war, thousands will continue to die at his hands.

But you haven't answered the question. How does leaving Saddam in power PROMOTE peace and justice in Iraq?

Here is the site that Pooga mentioned:

I don't know how to 'HTML' it yet! (OK I can be very lazy), but you can 'copy' and paste it into the html address line.

Then, about three lines down, it mentions the 'Mohamed vs Andrea' audio clip.

I often shake my head at the statement used that [something] will cause instability in the Middle-East. Ha! That suggests it is stable in the middle east as is. The only countries that have anything resembling stability right now are the ones that have self-declared peace with Israel. In other words, Egypt and Jordan, and both of them are at risk from internal problems.

An excellent article to read is at this site:

It's called 'Spotting the losers: Seven signs of non-competitive states.' It deals with the cultural problems and collective behaviours that cause states to fail. Tribal or family clans is one of the seven areas. See if you can find the area that fits current problems in Canada. I'll give a hint in a couple days.

I was reading about the war in McDonald's before work yesterday and a young lady started a conversation with me about the U. S. role. I was told how terrible they were, killing innocents etc etc, and that she was protesting over the weekend. She was strangely silent though, when I asked her how much time she spent protesting when Saddam was lowering dissidents into vats of acid at the rate of 150/day, or gassing Kurds in the north. I'm always amazed at how fickle people can be when they don't have a good grasp of the history of a conflict. Failing to study history before you make a judgement is like walking into the middle of a conversation- eveyone looks at you like you're an idiot because you missed the salient point…

I recommend a video, The Gray Zone. It is recently out and worth the money. It graphically deals with the actual work done at the Jewish Concentration Camps; the gassing and burning of the Jews. Not the usual boring holocaust piece. In your face. There are evil persons living amongst us and Saddam is one of them.

I'm not defending sadam. And belive me, I know where the land of OZ is.(but I can't say it's highly clasified) Please correct me if I'm wrong Sadam wasn't hurting anyone before he got bombed right? The U.N. had people in the country right. 75 Billion the U.S. plans to spend on this effort. The U.N. could have sent a lot more Inspectors for that money and I think they would have been a lot more effective. It's pretty basic you can't build peace with violence. Thats what the Americans want there the good guy's. God they have an enormous military budget, they have to spend it somewhere. They could have tried harder Iraq was virtually ignored after the last war. Bush brought Sadam into the spotlight after binladden and know he's using the military toys they love to spend while their U.N. deficit grows

As mentioned before, killing ONLY about 150 people a day, on average. Kurds, Marsh Arabs, Iranians, etc.

I understand Quebec is due for an other election with the Party Quebecous seeking an other mandate and possibly another referendum! I agree we should look to our own afairs!

VirgoDragon

AS MENTIONED BEFORE, KILLING ONLY ABOUT 150/DAY ON AVERAGE

If I'd heard that as justification to bomb Iraq I just might agree.I'm not convinced. I don't want to reduce this to #'s if I can help it. I'm a little lost for words. Where did you get that info.A lot of people are dying because of American bombs. I dont turst the western news service
(American propaganda machine) Let me say again I agree sadam should go.

The figure of 150/day was from a CBC radio interveiw with a professor from Iraq. This number was just the disidents he was liquifying in acid vats. The figures for gassing Kurds in the what is now the northern 'no fly zone' were far higher than that- over 5000. This is a matter of public record- simply do a search on Yahoo for 'ethnic Kurds' and you will find information from a variety of sources- not just western.
BTW, funny how the Americans found all those chemical suits in a hospital the Iraq army was using for staging troops (illegal). Why in the world would they need those???

Sarge

Along with the gassed Kurds, there were between 10-20,000 Kurds who escaped from Iraq over the border into Turkey. What makes that unique is that it is well known that Turkey mistreats its own Kurds. It makes you wonder how bad it is in Iraq for them when they escape it for the relative 'safety' of Turkey.

So, as promised, if anyone did read the article at:

http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usawc/parameters/98spring/peters.htm

you may find some symptoms in Canada in the category "Inability to accept responsibility for individual or collective failure", specifically the "Cult of Victimhood". I won't give my opinion here because I don't really want to extend a controversial debate, But if you give it some thought, you should be able to pick one or two large groups that this description fits.

"Inability to accept responsibility for individual or collective failure"

Sounds like the Liberal Party to me! Especially JC!

Could almost be applied to the Canadian Senate as well!!! lol
