I heard a rumour... hope its not true

I heard a rumour that we lost J-lynn from our family of trackers…. I hope this is not true but if it is that we can convince her to come back to us… I heard it was due to mean comments sent to her in pvt… J-lynn made the forums fun to read with her comments and sense of humour

dendrochick

I also hope it is not true. It would be a travesty for someone to leave because of other user's bad behaviour. This is, after all, a website that is for fun and the enjoyment of a common interest in tracking money.

mstiggs

Unfortunately I heard the same thing. I think those involved know who they are. I also hope J-Lynn will soon return.

it always seems to turn out that the good are run out by the bad. it seems critically unfair that a loud-mouthed, misogynist bully wins out over a kind, quirky, funny soul. action should really be taken so that it doesn't happen again. sanctions are in order. 'twould be wonderful if someone had the fortitude to make it so.

I do wish J-Lynn would come back as well.
I chat with her on MSN on occasion when I see her online.
She had said she started entering bills again, but it shows she has not logged on since the incident between BC & I.
I didn't name any names, but I did copy BC's messages as they were sent to me. I know J-Lynn wasn't happy her name was brought into this. I apologise to her again.

LC…I don't think it was anything that you said to her…..You have been chatting with her for some time and I feel she would understand what you were doing. Other users however…..don't know how to read…..straight up or even between the lines…and that person made some very RUDE comments….IN PRIVATE(or so he thinks). One thing about sending emails or PM's, they can be cut and pasted, or just saved to file, or passed on to every other person that you know….just to let everyone know what kind of person you are dealing with. This person should do the honourable thing and DROP FROM SITE!(not a spelling eror)
One can only stir the pot so much before you scratch the bottom, and once you scratch the bottom, you are 'mark'ed for life!

OK you know I have to say this already. STOP THE HATE PEOPLE!!!! Like seriously take this crap else ware….It's understandable that stuff like this goes on but I am getting really sick of all the personal attacks lately. I am sorry For J-Lynn and who ever else got hurt….but seriously lets stop bring up the past!! Wat's done is done and if it's not done I don't think we need to hear about it. If you ask me people keep stirring the pot when it seems like it's almost settled down. I am sorry to hear about J-lynn and I do hope she comes back…but then again if stuff like this keeps up I may not be here much longer either.

rudyk

thank you wally for expressing so eloquently what i think is becoming a majority opinion in this community.

my advice to IM, however, is to study a bit of history. appeasement doesn't work – and those who wish to maintain the illusion of cordial relations seldom benefit from that except in the short term. many people here are expressing in calm and collected fashion, a view that that previously dominant peace-at-all-cost perspective is no longer tenable. no one is fighting – but a plurality is growing. one can bury their head in the sand only so long – i choose to do so no longer. if you perceive THIS as a personal attack rather than calm discourse – i can only offer sympathies.

shewolf

IM it'd be great if it could be that easy but its hard when your the one being attacked in pvt chat and thru email… when your expressing your opinions about the site… then you get threatened in pvt chat for doing so… the group of people being bullied is growing unfortunately :(

kwkwkw

Some people are just plain rude. If all the regular forum readers refused to answer or reply to any of these messages sent by such persons after awhile they might get the message.(usally these people have low self esteam and can only feel better by putting others down while blowing thier own horn.)

Sweetie

Maybe a better solution would be..a feature set up on the site where each tracker can chose to Block private messages and annonymous mail from certain users while at the same time still be able to receive private messages or annonymous emails from anyone else they still wish to communicate with. The way it is now if you shut off that feature off you block everyone.

Lord_Comedy

I like the line of your thinking, but here is an idea that I have been pondering. Mixed with yours.
Each user can put an X beside any other user. If any user gains a certain number of X's they are busted down to newbie status for a period of time & CANNOT post ANY messages in the forums. After the elapsed period of time they must once again build up their level.
Each time a person is busted down to newbie status. The time increases exponentially

1st time I initally thought 3 months. not bad for 1st time.

2nd time you double the initial period. that would mean 6 months

3rd time you triple the time from 2nd time 18 months.. getting serious.

4th time 4 * the times frame from #3 72 months

that would be 6 years.. the site hasn't been around that long.
so if we put the inital time to 1 month
1 month 2 months 3 months
1……… 2 ……….. 3
2 …….. 4 ……….. 6
6 …….. 12 ………. 18
24 ……. 48 ………. 72
120 …… 240 ……… 360

Either way by the 4th level it is a long time. the 5th the offender should have learnt a long time before.

In the past I could see myself being possibly punished for 2 reasons. My comments on what was an on going joke with J-Lynn. And more recently the fight between BC & I
I apologize for my side in this fight, but I don't like being attacked.

Before BC ever came to the site, or maybe he was here, but never said anything we had a pretty good discussion about Typeos & spelling errors, & bad english being used. Nothing really came out of it except a discussion.
I guess I am defending myself, but I don't believe to be the instigator of the fight between BC & I.

I really think that kwkwkw has hit on the best solution thus far:

"If all the regular forum readers refused to answer or reply to any of these messages sent by such persons after awhile they might get the message."

It takes TWO people to argue. Things would not have got to this point if there would have been some healthy ignoring going on. It's not too hard when the communication is happening electronically. "DELETE!!" And you're done with it.

I'm getting mighty sick of this topic, by the way, and I'm going to take my own advice from now on by ignoring anything else of this nature. I am here to track money. Not listen to childish arguments. If I want to do that I can listen to phone-in radio shows. :)

shewolf

I like sweetie's idea… and the idea of the being able to block just one person from pvt messages :)

insane_monkey

OK that's all fine…I understand the position of being attacked becasue i have been there. I however, chose not to post it in the forums because I didn't think that it was relevant to anyone else. Perhaps i may have been wrong… All I am saying is that I dont think we (or at least I) need to be hearing about anyone elses problems. I understand that it happens and I understand that people have different views on it. But i am not on this site to read other peoples problems or issues unless they relate to tracking bills. I may not be an "experienced" CMT'er but this is my view. There's been a lot of conflict lately and I'm not willing to be part of it. Thanks to everyone for making my time here great, but i think my time is up.

PS- rudyk i dont view it as a personal attack and i repsect your opinion, and Sweetie GREAT IDEA!!!!

shewolf

IM don't go, glad your giving your opinion on these things… opinions are what makes the site work… but fun comments and tracking of bills is the real reason we are all here :)

What seems to be going on here is that we have one, or perhaps several, users, who have been abusive in their private emails. For the most part, the recipients have quietly dealt with it, without broadcasting their experience in the forums. That was certainly how I reacted when I was the recipient of a screaming email last year when someone took personally what was intended as a generalized opinion. I thought at the time that it was the reasonable way to deal with it. Unfortunately, I suspect that this may have been happening to numerous other users, who like myself, preferred not to air their grievances. As a result, those few individuals, or perhaps only one, have/has continued to be abusive to other users, trusting that each in turn would be silent.

I am not an advocate of displaying private and vindictive emails in the forums but I do think something has to be done to stop the individual or individuals who are behaving this way. The vast majority or users are here to track money and generally exchange friendly banter.

My suggestion would be, in true Canadian fashion, the formation of a Royal CMT Commission in the form of some senior, and well respected, members such as dr, Pooga, Idjit and JaketheDrifter, to hear complaints and make a decision as to appropriate responses.

Pooga

senior and well respected members such as … Pooga, Idjit

You obviously haven't seen the most recent pictures!
