I looked at the city police web page http://www.police.regina.sk.ca/
I figured being a police wweb page maybe they would have some sort of emergency thing online. They don't though.

Thanks again, everybody. He did take one of hubby's diabetes meds…..the one where if you take it on an empty stomach you could die because your blood sugar plummets! Hubby's hoping the perp takes it!
What is a "HP win xp built in phone pad"? I have win XP on my other computer and did not see any phone pad or phone dialer program optional or otherwise. Just wondering if I missed something.
and you said"No external modem required." I understand that, but you still need a modem.
Sorry about your break in and am very glad your daughter was safe. As LC mentioned, we had our house invaded. We had a lot of electronics, money, and personal items stolen. I was going to go through insurance so I got a new scanner and with working and the hassle of insurance I let the claim go too long and ended up not using my insurance. The boys missed their video games but found other things to do. (And now bought their own) Often the offenders will wait until you replace your things and come back for the new stuff. In the mean time it is a good idea to put bars on the windows, deadbolt locks on the doors and display some discouraging signs like Beware of Dog and Electronic Surveillance or Property ID Protection. We had our vehicle invaded and I also lost my diamond pendant for which I didnt use insurance. Insurance is good for the big stuff like fire or floods. (We had our basement flood and received a sizable claim) It is also recommended that everyone keep a list of all of the serial numbers so your items are more easily identified and returned. Also engrave your SIN on items with an engraving pen. Pawnshops must report serial numbers of items received to the police before accepting them for re-sale.
One thing nobody has mentioned is a Baby Monitor. We had one that worked between my 2 neighbours houses and ours because we were on the same power box. If your daughter must be alone you could put on a monitor so the neighbour can listen for her or have it so she can just buzz them and press talk. (Provided you have a neighbour at home). I knew a couple that had one in the garage so the husband could listen to his wife all day in case she had trouble (or to order coffee and goodies). One day he heard the house being invaded and called the police from his phone in the garage. That saved their day.
Id like to commend your dog
He is a hero! He probably deterred the invaders from going downstairs. We have a mighty small dog that barks to let us know when someone is coming up our walk. Invaders also like to take things quickly and get out so even if the police are called they wont get caught.
I would also be afraid to have children using something that could end back up in their own face and cause serious damage. Even a spray can sometimes backfire. Self-defence is a whole new issue. Having your big dog is probably the best defence for her. Hopefully the Cel phone will help. That is one thing I got my boys that I encourage them to take with them especially now that they are driving. The older they get the more worries we seem to have. Hope you don't have any more scares like that.
Good idea, Joycer, but in our case most neighbours move in and then are gone a few months later. Also, the culprit could be one of our neighbours. (The kitchen window at the rear of the house was the entry point, with the thief leaving over the back fence. The entry point to the yard? Over a side fence.)
As for the repeat offences, I hear they usually wait 6 weeks; most people have replaced everything by then. I've been trying to get hubby to wait and not rush the replacements.
Now, if we had a garage, I'm sure my husband would like the monitor for the coffe, etc. idea. (LOL)
