I was at the casino last night and the blackjack dealer who I bought chips from noticed all my bills were marked..
I told her I mark them to watch where they go.. etc etc..
a different dealer a few nights earlier saw .. but she questioned in a different manner.. almost like as if she wasn't gonna take the money..
he I never really talked to the P Boss came over told me the table was closing so I moved over to a different table..
My question is .. when people ask does it make anyone squeemish.. and what do you do?
I know if the dealer who I didn't talk with didn't wanna take the marked bills I woulda asked for the Pit Boss
Check out some of the stories we have in the archives. Idjit has some goodies.
Bothered us at first, but not anymore. Should be proud that they're marked. Give them the number for the Bank of Canada Currency & Paper Money Division (1-888-513-8212) and tell them to find out for themselves. Some people think it's illegal, so we try to educate them! If they use the word 'defaced', ask them if a teller's stamp is illegal as well!
You can always print out the <a href=http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/c-52/45085.html target=_blank>Currency Act</a>, and <a href=http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/c-46/41869.html target=_blank>Part XII of the Criminal Code</a>. But you will notice that the laws a specific to coins and counterfeit bills. There is NOTHING about bank notes except for attemping to change their value, which is not even close to what we do. In fact, the <a href=http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/b-2/sor-89-298/20614.html target=_blank>Only thing I could find</a> barely says anything about bank notes.
Its happened to me before at the Casino. One of the change people got snarly and said "Why do people do that to money? The machines don't accept them." I just politely said I've come across a few and they've worked fine for me. The casino can't do a thing about it. If it offends them that badly all they can do is send the bills to the bank and if the end up at the B of C, its their choice and their choice alone whether to take a note out of circulation. I shared a good story about this also happening to me when I went to Calgary in July.
I'm pretty in-your-face about comments. Fact is, though, I hardly get any abuse anymore- people are honestly interested in the site now. I'd rather make a convert than beat up a hostile person any day. My line is to say "register a username on the site, enter this bill, then you can see where the bill goes after you spend it". It usually creates interest and off they go…
Your right Idjit.. I would agree..
the second dealer who was nice I did say I marked them.
I told her to go tot he site. she would have had to memorize it though. As it goes into the box, and she can't take it home.
So she might be an orphan. ( If she does come )
the 1st dealer I didn't know how to handle and I was timid, but she wasn't so nice in the way she commented, where the second dealer was nice. same with the dealers tonight.
there are some funny people out there for sure and they have lots of questions about the marked money. I went to bingo last week and spend my marked bills for cards. the lady in front of me won and they paid her off with, I believe 2 of the 20's. She refused the bills and wanted ones that were not marked because she was convinced that they were conterfeit. They gave her 2 other unmarked bills…too funny.
In addition to that Lord_Comedy, someone I know who frequents the casino ended up with a marked 20 of mine and I encouraged him to go to the site. He must have spent it though, I didn't get a hit on it, but I tried to generate some interest.
You really shouldn't encourage people to enter your bills directly. If a store clerk enters your bill because you told them to, then it's not really tracking in the purest sense as you already knew that the bill was there. And such hits are not allowed anyway. If I tell someone about the site like that, I encourage them to go and enter their own money but not to enter mine. But most times, I play dumb completely or give them a few details but pretend I don't know that much.

I always play dumb. I say, "Oh, I just noticed that too. I got it from the bank machine" Even if it is a line of UNC sequential notes. They should absolutly know it was me =P
just tell them its counterfeit and ask them for the bill in question. if they are dumb enuf to believe you, that is their problem!
i am just kidding of course. play dumb like dr says. its actually fun playing with their minds.
As i was saying so far only people i had say anything is dealers at the casino.. 1 person i didn't say anything to..
the other .. i told to check out the site..
and we talked.. :) ( she is a darlin and i was hitting on her later ) but she put the money in the cash box..
and she could not write down the serial # or anything like that to enter it..
i do tell people who chat with online about the site all the time.. i hope some of them come by.. and stick around..
would be cool to see some otta province friends get some bills

Sounds exactly like me, MmmBeer! And none of my friends or family know I track money (except for my boyfriend)…it's totally my little secret! I think it's more fun that way.
