Also good to know as I had a bank teller chide me for "causing her to send my marked bills (mostly AU and EF) to be destroyed, as her bank received a bulletin not to recirculate these bills."

do you think they would give you a copy of that memo … would be worth a challenge. what bank was it? not the branch just the name ?

I think she lied to you mes. they would not send a note to that effect. should have asked to see it. bet you 10 to 1 that she "cannot show it" for whatever reasons. or it was destroyed etc etc.
they would get a memo if they sent in too many bills that were simply marked as they just get sent out into recirculation.

Maybe it was just her bank, however, Never once has Bank of Canada ever sent a memo like that to any Financial Instution.

I can see for very mutilated bills with alot of doodling on it, yes, send it to get destroyed. But not an enhancement of a stamp.

I'd probably tell her to go fly a kite ;)

It happened at a CIBC here in Red Deer. I haven't gotten any flack from the TD banks here. I did have one lady at one Scotiabank here get mad at people who mark up money, but not at another branch of the same.

When I told her that the BOC just sends bills of this condition back out into circulation, she explained to me that the BOC NEVER sends bill back into circulation, ever.

That just helped me to make up my mind about whether to cancel my account with them.

I should take a picture of the money that BOC sends us…

Cancel you're account and open one with me ;)

I don't see why a stamp would be a problem. I stamp alot of bills at work and my boss still puts them in the atm in the morning!
