Sorry, but I completely forgot about the Quarterly City Hit Report! The numbers will be slightly off, but it shouldn't be significant.

As normal, Saskatoon continues to extend it's lead with 870 hits in the last quarter. The big story is Edmonton, with a huge gain in hits to pass Calgary and is beginning to close in on Regina! At this rate, it could move into second spot by the fall. A lot of other repositioning in the top 20, the most noticeable being the building hits in Sherwood Park and Red Deer. Red Deer came out of nowhere 6 months ago, has now grabbed 15th spot, and at the current rate could move into the top 10 by the end of the year! Other items of note: Toronto has finally moved into the top 20, while Montreal and Yellowknife have moved into the top 40. Finally, we improved by 214 locations to 2092.

pooga…

very interesting, as usual. i'm curious, however, if you have ever considered doing the same sort of list but weighing it on population? it might reveal some interesting patterns (a quick perusal suggests that i think saskatoon would still be on top, but moose jaw and prince albert would likely displace the "big cities"). in such a list, i think you'd have to restrict consideration to only the top 50 cities (in terms of hits). otherwise, one avid user in Resume-Speed, SK might skew the results. anyway… just my musing on the list – thanks for compiling that and posting!

Pooga

but moose jaw and prince albert would likely displace the "big cities"

To a certain extent, that would probably happen. But if we go per capita, I think it would more likely be La Ronge, Weyburn, or even Martensville taking over top spot. But it does sound interesting.

Got a link to census data for Canadian cities?

</tr> </table> I found the populations at Stats Canada and only took the city or town population not the Census Agglomeration. For Sherwood Park I used Strathcona County and for Spring Bay I used Central Manitoulin (Township), so I'm not sure about the accuracy of those figures.

yup, pooga… we snoozed… and we won – k did it! thanks for doing that, k. i was gonna do it after finals, but you probably did it better and you certainly did it faster. some interesting numbers in there – did you pick some of those urban areas at random? and it was nice to see your gut feeling work out, pooga – la ronge DID move right up there. interesting…. interesting.

kayfbee

I just used the cities Pooga had on his chart. After finals you can do a more complete list, I just did it on a Sunday afternoon.

We can thank sasha for La Ronge being on top. She entered many a hit before starting to add her own bills.
