I got a hit tonight (I don't know how to add a link to it) but I'm not sure what to think about it. The comments say that a stamp for one of the other sites was added to the bill. Should I be upset? I would think that people will be less likely to enter a bill which has more than one stamp, it's too much work to visit both sites!

No use getting upset about it, however it is a generally frowned upon action to stamp with more than one site.

I got a hit tonight (I don't know how to add a link to it)

When you're in composing mode, look to the right of the text entry box. There are four buttons labelled 'bold', 'italics, 'underline' and 'link'.

I started this message by selecting a piece of text, copying it, clicking on 'italics', pasting it into the pop-up that appears, and clicking 'ok'.

Similar method for posting a link. Copy the URL of the page you want to link to, click on 'link', now either paste the URL into the box or enter some descriptive text (this gives us something to click on), click on 'ok'. Another box appears, you must paste the URL here, click on 'ok', and your link is in your message!

So the link to the note that you are talking about can look like either this:

ummm… not really cool.

or this:

Ya, I guess there's no point worrying about it.
…and… thanks for the info Pooga. now I'll know how to make a link in the future. :)

BANKCOLLECTOR

Well here is how I look at that bill. The willer found it and gave it a hit after 340 days for you. A good run for a five which went to the coast. Various things could have happened to the bill … it could have been pulled by the bank, the willer could have not entered it to our site and altered your stamp, or he/ she could have entered it and let it go without remarking, or could give you a hit and mark it like they did. A five with a 340 day run is not a bad thing and it could have died without you ever even knowing. Be happy about the hit hope for more from it and move on. The banks are issueing new fives everyday for us to mark so stamp and spend and let the hits come as they may.

As gouche92 pointed out ..
it is generally frowned upon to restamp another person's bill with another web page.
I suggest at most further enhancing the bill if the stamp has faded. but do not add another web page.
One fortunate thing is he has a user ID.
You can anonymously email him or text message him & ask him to refrain from adding the other web page in the future. I generallly try to be nice about it, but it only happened once to me.
Usually if a bill gets stamped with another web page I would assume they are fairly new to the money tracking idea & don't realize it is not accepted.

DaRoofa66

so if I find a bill with another web site on it would you say that I should log on to the web site and give the founder the hit or just ignore it and spend it as if the stamp didnt exist. I am sorry for asking but I am new at this and not sure about the cross site entries etiquite.

Suzuki

Daroofa66, you go to that website and enter the serial # and give them a hit and make a note that it is entered here there then you come back here and enter it. Then you release it (Spend Spend Spend) and hope the next time someone from the other site gets one of yours that they give you a hit here also.

Easy way to think of it is..
Do to a bill as you would want someone else do to the bill you would mark.
I would think it is the best rule in FAIR play.
Give hits as they are due..& help those on other sites get hits on the bills they have marked.

gouche92

Enter the note here at CMT and at the website marked on the note. Don't make any further alterations or stamps (other than to perhaps refresh the website name) and send the note in it's way.

trippy_trip

I ALWAYS enter a bill marked for another site here AND at that site. But I also never add my own stamp to it. That's why I thought it wasn't very cool for someone else to add their stamp. But heh, at least it's a hit! :)

DaRoofa66

thank you all for the advice. you have all helped me learn some etiquette and my wife says I really need more etiquette……….hahaha
thanks

That might be something to add to FAQs, if it isn't already. I did that once when I first started before I realized it wasn't nice. (Some day I'll probably get an angry e-mail about it.) If it was in the FAQ section I probably would have known not to restamp it.
