A friend of mine in Toronto has some Maple Leaf gold coins, minted various years but mostly 1981, with a face value of $50. What's the best way to sell these without getting ripped off? (He wants something above-board, i.e. he will be paying all required taxes on the sale.)
From what I understand, it should be about $1800. Someone who knows more about premiums, etc. might have a better idea. BC???
SORRY I am not the one to ask about selling gold coins or silver . I sold some gold a while back and was paid a fair price. KEEP IN MIND Gold Dealers but low and sell high so expect to see the allow you about 55% of current market value. Less if gold is in the form of Jewelry. Private sales are good as yo0u w0ill get a h0igher premi0um. Good Luck.
Remember, Gold & Silver are bought/sold by WEIGHT,
NOT by the coin denomination! Also, the price fluctuates day to day.
As of typing this, prices are as follows (with markets closed):
GOLD: $1782.70 USD per OUNCE
SILVER: $93.29 USD per OUNCE
