I entered 5 bills and have not got one single hit. How exactly long does it take to get a hit? What will happen if I enter a bill that another user possibly already entered?

How long will it take to get a hit? There is no specific answer. You could get a hit right away, or it could take awhile. I entered 80+ bills before getting my first two hits this week. On the other hand, goldenboy entered ten bills and has one hit already. The only thing I can say is patience, and keep entering, marking, and spending those bills. A hit is bound to come your way :)
And there are users who have entered hundreds of bills before getting a hit. And users who waited over a year for their first hit.
Stats indicate that there is a hit for every 15 bills entered, but no stat available yet on time to a hit. An interesting stat would be time to a hit as a function of the number of bills entered.
Bottom line… enter more bills.
Enter lots of bills AND make sure you get your bills noticed. Use a message that explains the site, like "Track This Bill at.." And don't be afraid to use a bit of red pen or highlighter.. you'll be amazed at the results!
If you follow these techniques you should a get a hit in a couple weeks!!

But remember to be nice to the bills and don't make them look ugly… here at CMT we promote as little damage to the bill as possible. That way the Bank of Canada will continue to turn a bit of a blind eye to our fun. :)

Oh.. hehe.. whoops.. sorry I'm still learning :)
More bills = more hits. I had 250 entered before my first hit. The key is to be patient.

Thanks for pointing that out. I know I've mutilated alot of bills with alot of decorating on them, that didn't do justice to the bills. (none were promoting CMT tho)
i second what dr says. i am very nuch against markings that deface the bill – including stamping or writing over our national icons (faces, coats of arms, significant writing). our team intentionally got a small stamp made so that it would fit within the many open spaces that exist on the bills. i think our message is still clear and noticieable but not disrespectful.

Hit count and bills entered is related to location of user!! I'm sure Pooga or BDK could do a study and come up with some numbers! But if you live in a small town that is out of the way like I do it just takes longer. I have over 800 bills entered and only 49 hits!LOL!! But I have a small wedge in Toronto's door!!
