Enjoyable list. I almost bought #3!
I did buy the replacement to #6, mentioned in the article
I have used 5 of the 10 on the list including # 6.
I also bought a Radio shack Colour Computer TRS 80 which wasn't any better than the TI-99/4A
i had #6 also i think the only time i enjoyed it was playing a game called Parsec of which i still think jerbear is suffering from Parsec's thumb~grin as he was always able to beat me and enjoyed the PC telling him "NICe Shot Pilot"— ooooohh the memories huh jerbear??
I wrote a few simple programs on mine - which is about all anyone could do on it. But I had lots of fun with the game cartridegs. Won chess once and keep that game on file till I sold the computer. Favorite game was Tunnels of Doom (Pooga's too!), but lost its thrill after I started making it to the bottom level of the dungeon and back out on a regular basis…but it did take a long time to get that first win.

Oh ya good old Parsec many fun filled hours spent on that game. I still have no feelings in my thumbs. :)
I remember a mountain climbing game.
It was tough but I climbed Mount Everest. which is the final mountain. The abominal snowman was tough to get past.
Now doesn't the TI-99/4a (Radio Shack TRS-80 Colour Computer) make you wonder why they don't put game cartridges on all computers.. NOT .. LOL
I played the mountain climbing game too. I don't recall if I ever made it past the snowman though. I do know I never made it to the top.
While chatting with Pooga last night I remembered I had written a Yatzhee game that I played on the TI99/4a, and it worked rather well. You could even select which dice to re-roll.
I did try writing a 'Trivial Pursuit' style game, but you had to use the Trivial Pursuit board, and the memory size limited the program to only about 50 questions.
If you had gotten the disk drive which cost alot.. & not many people got you could save questions to be recalled though out the game.
I did a simular program with the TRS80 Colour computer. which i had bought the disk drive for.
Gee what a waste of money that system was.
in retrospect, yes, waste of money, considering what eventually appeared on the market, but it was leading edge at the time. I did have the expansion box and disk drive, and wanted to get the extra RAM ($200 for 14k ?). But, everything in the personal computing world was overpriced. Thank goodness it has sorted itself out to just PCs and that fruity thing.
Sarge play nice now- pooga, jerbear and My self all would rather have puters that work 100 per cent of the time and be a small percentage of the total market share, than a puter that fails almost 100 per cent of the time and has a huge per centage of the market share. You tell me what makes more sense to you!!– go buy your Vista that took 7 plus years to develope and call me back if it works 100 per cent like they lead you to believe in there promo adds.
software problems are not hardware problems and fruit can go bad just like any other item. ya gotta look at the numbers. less fruit means less spoilage. gotta compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges.
It seems to me that Apple owners are always raving about how great their systems are, and that they never have problems, like PCs do; but then, each time Apple comes out with a new model or OS, they say that 'this new system/software fixes this problem and that problem and…yadda, yadda yadda'.
I'm just asking for a little honesty.
(I bet you vote Liberal too! LOL!)
Sorry I was a card caring Rhino for years till they went defunc, got my card at a rally back in the late 70's from George Adilman when he was running for office.
Sarge blood is thicker than water ask your bro why he runs a Mac and how many problems he has had with it compared to you who run a Windows machine I would guess in all honesty that one is further ahead than the other.
Yes I agree with BC you can not compare Apples to Oranges and software has a lot to due with it. I got to hand it to Bill Gates he knew how to market his product by promoting it to death of which he was able to gain a huge market share.
So on that note lets not quarrel as Henry Ford told his buying public years ago " You can have your vehicle choice in any color you choose, as long as it"s Black". So from that quote I assume that is why some people today drive Red cars while others drive Black, they both get you from point A to point B.
'this new system/software fixes this problem and that problem and…yadda, yadda yadda'
That would be a Windoze user. New Macs are speedbumps, improved OS (which has been UNIX based for several years now), or variations on that theme. Never a problem, just a pleasure to use!
(Can you tell that Sarge is Macaphobic??? And he'll probably never own a hybrid either! LOL!)
Bottom line is that Windows, Linux and Macs all do the same thing. Linux does it with more power, and Mac does it with more style. Like choosing between a Ford, a Hummer and a Mercedes.
Testimonials:
Yet a Mac user will still never admit there are problems with Macs. If they are so good, why do they keep improving the system?
Mac spreading viruses via bluetooth Note that this one says: "If you use Mac OS X, make sure you are up to date on security patches."
Like I said, a Macaphobe. :-)
(I'd respond, but…. if we continue on in this vein, we may need the Controversial' forum back!)

Mac Commercials.
They show the PC dressed in a nice suit. Obviously a business man.
Then they show a Mac dressed in jeans shirt & sweater. Casual Weekend wear.
PC Vs Mac.
Business Vs. Casual.
Even Mac knows their place.. Pretty imressive advertising I would say!
PC users know there are problems in the PC world. Most rightly blame Microsoft, not the machines.
Mac addicts are liberals in disguise.
They will never admit that their systems have their own problems.
They will always divert to the other guy…self critique is not allowed.
When exposed, ignore it and blame the others.
They will never admit that their systems have their own problems.
Of course. We hold the moral high ground!

Hmmm, and who started this whole sidebar??? Debases MacOS, and ignores LINUX. Maybe his Windoze are shaded??? LOL!

Maybe your right pooga that his Windoze are shaded and he can not see the Light of a new dawn on the horizon, and I'am not talking about dish soap, so there wont be any confussion on his part.~grin
