In attendance were CJ, Haywoodja, BDK, BC, Sarge, Pawnman who also brought the new Mrs. Pawnman.

BC gave away some stamps he no longer uses and Mrs. Pawnman won the 50/50 draw, which may or may not go in the honeymoon fund.

It was a small meeting. Too bad the scout that suggested the location couldn't make it.

BANKCOLLECTOR

Enjoy the stamps guys and lets hope we do not see and embossed bills coming out. Sadly missed were Idjit and Pooga. See what happens when special invites do not go out. Thank you BDK for your quick tear down of the stamp press. Meal was good company was fantastic. Was wonderful to meet Pawnmans wife and talk to him again. With the Christmas season upon us and snow soon on its way (I HOPE)…allow me to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas may all your wishes come true.

rudyk

I got to enter the bills…and then had to return them to her.

great… more bogus hits from flipped banknotes…

BANKCOLLECTOR

rudyk as usual you jump to conclusions …let me pull your boot out of your mouth for you. his wife came with him to our dinner we welcome this up here we are a friedly bunch.
she paid her money and entered our 50/50 and won as she is not a member …her husband entered the bills from a fair transaction. dr. himselve entered bills from donations received also a fair transaction. we do not sit at our coffee meetings or our dinner meetings and exchange bills or serial numbers with each other. we go out and talk about cmt related events and actions (funny how many times your name comes up) and current events. feel free to delete any of my hits that you find bogus as i personally do not care how many hits i have but where my bills have gone. it might surprize you that as cmt members we try to deal with each other when ever we can. i use bdk's handyman services and others use my services from time to time if they pay me for my services with marked money it gets entered.
like i said if you do not like my hits given or received take them off and send them to hit heaven.

pawnman

BOGUS HITS ??? and if I was to walk into a store just after you left and received one of your bills as change…..should I enter it????? or better yet, if you attend one of these functions and received a marked bill while paying the cashier….would you enter it?????

rudyk

yes, bogus hits. take some time. read the archives of the forums. what you currently do was once castigated by ALL members as cheating. (oh, and by the way, BC, dr entered the notes of his own volition as a reward for the donation – not to legitimize the crap that you pull.) there is little wonder that saskatoon is and always will be the "hit capital" – it is the only place where this sort of thing is regularly featured and CELEBRATED.

for you edification check out this thread . ahhh… the good old days… when folks were moral…

then search out threads discussing visiting "hit friendly" locations… CMT was certainly a different place before the "losers" started "winning"…

pawnman, in your hypothetical situation – if you had just HAPPENED to be there after me, it is fine. if you followed me on purpose, or travelled with me… BOGUS. and NO, i would not enter the note in such a situation. my friends and I who were money trackers would go to restaurants and line up to pay in specific order so that we would NOT get each others banknotes as change, because we knew that entering them would not be tracking the "normal flow of money", and that that just defeats the purpose of the site.

** flame off **

caveat– i speak in NO official capacity in this thread, but as a long-time member who just gets frustrated at people playing fast and loose with the conventions.

BANKCOLLECTOR

Rudy K thanks for the read of the old thread ftom 2003 as in everything times change. this site was started as a computer programing project by DR. and over the years has turned into a very wonderful money tracker site. The natural flow of money and marking bills on a tracker site should not be used together. Once this site (and others) were put into place and our members started the marking of money the natural flow went out the window. When I first saw the site with teams and rewards (points) for getting hits … I looked at this site as a GAME but also a neat way to follow my money. Teams and Points HOW could a person NOT look at it as a game? But what ever the case as time has changed the site has also changed, as have some of the members. I no longer enter my limit each day and heck I do not even mark all the bills I spend anymore I do not make lists of bills spent and not yet entered. As a member who was at the last dinner meeting I did not see anyone ask for others to trade bills and I did not try and get other members bills as change. When I joined the CMT and went to my first dinner meeting I was lucky to meet some fine people and as a business man I did some networking. My staff now drink G.W. if I buy them a summer treat for after a hard week of work. If I need some renovation work I use another member for this as he does fine work and as we are friends I do not get ripped off, beer is bought at the government operated outlets and if another member is there whatever (he does work shift work and I do not consult as to his work days as when to shop, and in return these friends call on my services when they need items I provide. Some of them pay me by cheque so they are not looking for hits from me. Members in Saskatoon seem to with our dinner meetings and coffee meetings have also built friendships. The friends I have made will remain my friends if the CMT site ever ended. I am happy that I have made some friends though this site.
The site in Saskatoon has become more than a lab experiment or a method to try our a new computer operating/programing system. this site has taken on a life of its own the creator has turned some duties over to others so that the site will continue while he grows in other directions. I wish all the members of the cmt well and keep on tracking.

BC blithers:
The natural flow of money and marking bills on a tracker site should not be used together.

WHAT?!

you only deny that a natural flow of money cannot exist because it does not fit with your minuscule personal paradigm. you tip your hand by calling it "a GAME" and where there is a game… there is cheating. if you don't view it as a game, then all that remains is the tracking of the normal flow of money… there is no incentive to "get more hits" (sometimes, it appears, at all costs). presently, it is no longer "fun", nor "a game", because the only arbiter of the rules has left and those who cheat the best, rule the roost. i am not interested in your rationalizations – i have heard them time and again. it changes the situation not one iota. as someone who seems to think that "the old ways were better" in almost every aspect of society (as it suits you) you suddenly seem to be a big proponent of change on this site. CMT was founded on principles and natural curiosity – we'd be well to revisit that vision.

pawnman

Well…I just HAPPENED to be in Saskatoon with my wife the evening of the supper, and just so HAPPENENS I didn't have any cash with me and my wife actually bought the 50/50 tickets with a $20.00 bill she HAPPEND to have, she HAPPENED to get change with stamped bills. She HAPPENED to win the draw, and was payed her winnings with bills that HAPPENED to be stamped. She HAPPENED to give me my allowance that night with the same bills that she HAPPENED to win with. When we got back home to NORTHBATTLEFORD (not the hit capital - saskatoon)I HAPPENED to have time to enter these same bills she gave me. and it just so HAPPENS that my wife is not a member of this site, so if anything HAPPENS you should be dealing with her….and she HAPPENS to be pretty tough.

ps: we didn't line up to pay my bill…just so HAPPENS we left before anyone else even ate.

Sarge

When I go to work in the Gov't Liquor Retail Operation, if I am not a supervisor during my shift, I am a cashier. (I supervise about 3 shifts in 8). When I am a cashier, I am handed 1 of 12 cash trays in my store…I don't get a choice, other than 'plastic or metal tray?'. If the tray I get has marked bills in it, I enter them, regardless of how many there are. That is a natural flow of money. The only CMT'r I've seen in the store in the last year or more has been Pooga, but he often comes in just to browse or talk.

BDKINGSTON

My 2 cents… All hits recieved are the natural flow of money unless someone gives a note to someone for no other reason than to obtain a hit (IE exchange notes). I have never done this and no tracker I know has ever done this. As far as I am concerned there can be no bogus hits as long as a person obtained the note they hit doing regualar spending. When I give someone change ( break a larger note) if the note I get is marked I will enter it and if the person I give change to enters one or more of my notes I consider them valid hits and when and if they get hit again I know that it was a note that was hit by the person I gave change to. A hit is a hit is a hit and I am interested in all of them, because it is interesting to see where the note travels and all hits are part of it's travels. The hits that interest me the most are multiple hits on one note and long life, but those are few and far between..
The fact that I joined this site has disrupted the normal flow of money for me, because before I joined this site less of my spending was with cash. I now make more cash purchases in order to see where the notes will go…
This is at least 2 cents worth so I will cease and desist.

HAPPY TRACKING TO ONE AND ALL

BANKCOLLECTOR

well rudy k you have heard the same thing from four different members so I guess on this one you are wrong or your view is in the minority. i personally never entered a hit or received a hit from the dinner meeting and if we were to believe you Mr. rudy I would have been the one to do such a thing (you as usual are total wrong as far as i am concerned). You are welcome and entitled to your views and opinions but must you constantly shove them up our _ _ _ _ _ .

Now this will be my last thread / reply to this as i think we have stated Saskatoon Case just fine.

pawnman

I can't believe what is happening…..I don't participate in the forums very often, nor do I attend the meetings as much as I would like to,( they are a lot of fun and it is great to put faces to the names of fellow trackers) A simple thing of entering a few bills that I received while attending a gathering (which my wife really enjoyed) turns into a fight and name calling..(re: cheaters)I don't see anything wrong in entering the bills that were EXCHANGED DURING A MONEY TRANSACTION — the 50/50 draw. Rudyk…if you were there and would have won the draw, I am sure you would have entered the bills.

Cityscape

BDK said "The fact that I joined this site has disrupted the normal flow of money for me, because before I joined this site less of my spending was with cash. I now make more cash purchases in order to see where the notes will go…"
Same with me Ive started using mor cash & less plastic. This site disrupts the "normal flow" of money all the time, as it is not "normal" to enter serial#s if you dont track money.

Mike Cityscape

rudyk

PM rationalizes:
Rudyk…if you were there and would have won the draw, I am sure you would have entered the bills.

sorry… but this one just irks me. you have NO IDEA what i would have done, so don't ever presume, okay? the 50/50 draw, i am assuming, is just another lame idea to increase the number of hits likely put forth by some desperate soul who has to try to find yet another way to subvert the pass-time of money-tracking. how many other informal gathering would feature such an occurrence? just as a curiosity… tell me… how often do you get together with 4 or 5 other people and hold a 50/50 draw???? stop insulting everyone's intelligence here and just admit what you are doing.

BDKINGSTON

Rudy:

50/50 draws are held to support the site and are done only at supper gatherings and provincial gatherings. Maybe only 2 to 4 a year. The draws are not done with only a small number of members present. This in fact is the smallest gathering that we have done a 50/50. The money earned has usually been sent to dr to defer costs.

CalamityJanet

Bahumbug.

I thought site assistants were put in place to assist, not start flame wars. Re: Bogus bills comment to someone who we haven't seen out to an event for years. Very classy!

Then when that only got one reply, you seem to call those in the “hit capital” cheaters. Still not enough response, even though you ask for a flame off.

Rudyk, you have a high score, you know one has to enter hundreds of bills to get one full point at this level. You also know that it requires hundreds of hits for the score to go up one point. Your theory that when we get together we are exchanging bundles of bills is …(I don't know how to put an adjective here without calling you that adjective. I am not calling you that adjective, just the theory, sorry). You know that many members monitor the hits and hundreds (even tens, or fives) of false hits simply do not happen.

You attended a breakfast meeting, do you think they waited until you went to use the washroom to exchange their bills? Did you witness bill exchanges at the table? Did we line up to pay in a specific order?

Then you say the site is no longer “fun”, nor “a game” because those who cheat the best, rule the roost. If your job is no longer “fun” it is time to move on.

As for ruling the roost, you may not realize it, but that is you, so I guess look in th mirror to find your cheater. The purpose of this site is to track bills. When one member dictates when we, the peons, get to enter our new bills, you rule the roost. Everyone knows that if a certain member requests a new prefix be entered, you somehow cannot find a way to verify it, even with a scan of the bill. The rest of us sit on the same prefix. I have sat on a bill for a month, others have waited longer.

You are right, this is no longer fun when the assistants pick fights with users. With that I think I will take my own advice.

Happy tracking.
