I stopped for gas this morning and went to pay with a brand new $100 bill that I had stamped on both sides. The cahier refused to take it saying that it looked "suspicious" with the stamp. I ended up having to use a credit card. Anyone else ever have this problem? Are they aloud to refuse legal money?

now that depends on the reason that they refuse the money if they think the money is fake they may refuse it and you could have raised issue and told them to call the police but to me this is not worth making an issue I would have asked for the managers name and contacted them to suggest maybe a better training program for employees. However with the fact that these bills are new proper training for may cashiers has not been done and in most business operations will not be done anytime soon. I have not stamped my new bills and doubt I will until they start to make the 20 . I seldom enter anything but 20 & 50 at this time. Some cashiers just are not familiar with this site or money trackers and yes I am sure many trackers have receieved some reluctance from time to time to take stamped money. I only stamp the backs now and most cashiers only look at the face when they are handed the bill.

I've never had a comment ever. Usually the most I ever had was cashiers usually look at the stamp to what it said.

P.S. I never got a hit this way!

schnits and I had a 5 refused in Toronto once. The cashier called it "counterfeit" but gave no further explanation. I paid a $700 auto insurance bill in fives, and the cashier demanded to know where I got them from. She refused to let me use them until she phoned a bank to "verify" them. I gave her my bank's phone number, but she could not get ahold of anyone, so she let me pay and leave. At Superstore a cashier decided she had to call a manager before she would accept some twenties.

only "BAD" comment I have gotten is that the 'stamped' notes will not be accepted by the slot machines here in Manitoba.
They work fine in parking meters and 'juke food' machines (I speak from experience).

Guess I'll have to try some slots to see for myself.

I guess it is left to conjecture as to how this constitutes the normal use of money…

People often pay for things with cash, and fives are the most common denomination thereof (at lease according to this site's statistics). Therefore, fives are commonly used by people to pay for things. "Normal", and "common" are listed as synonyms by dictionary.com. Therefore, fives are normally used by people to pay for things. I am a person, the singularity of "people". Therefore, I normally use fives to pay for things. Auto insurance is a thing. Therefore, I normally pay for my auto insurance in fives. Use is what I do with my fives. Fives, when referring to the denomination of currency, are money. Therefore, paying for auto insurance in fives constitutes the normal use of money. Without conjecture, I rest my case.

may I ask you a followup? if i replied to your post 150 times… would THAT have been okay? after all… just one response was expected, normal or common? oh wait.. might it have something to do with the VOLUME of responses?…

whatever gets you through the night, fordjae…

red will work in some machines but a note on this the last few weeks I have not had any problem with stamped notes at the Dakota Dunes machines I guess after my numerous bills left there they finally fixed the machines to allow for stamped money. Now if they could just get them to work on the new hundreds.
