Just to make notice that Paul Wallis at CdnPaperMoney.com is now selling coffee mugs with photo imprints of Canadian Notes. I just ordered a set of the Bird Series, replacement, backs. I think they'll make great Xmas gifts.

Go to the main site, then on to the paper money forum. Hit 'store' at that site. The cups look really neat. He has a picture of a $1000 birdseries note, front and back. I just ordered a set of the bird series notes.

ANGLOFROG: they're just teasin' ya. Gotta buy the who shebang to see what they look like.
Not to take away from CPM, but I've seen money-mugs in the old '54 series and Birds of Canada in a local gift shop in Saskatoon. I wasn't too impressed with the quality, and they were too small to be useful, but they were cheap.

Actually, this recent business venture for Paul had to get the ok from the BofC. That came last week. The idea just came to him in the past two weeks which he has talked about on his site. I expect that he will be producing and posting the new mugs as he makes them. I'm very impressed with his reward-winning site; very graphic and creative. i expect the mugs to reflect that. He does note the mugs are 12 oz and that the process will fade more quickly if a dishwasher is used. He recommends handwashing to preserve the picture.I'll let you know what a set looks like when I receive them next week.

I'd probably buy a cup or two and use them to put my bill-marking pens in. Maybe they could be used as gifts on the site.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the confusion, but as was pointed out, it's a "venture in the happening" sort of thing. A few points:

1) I could only get 10oz in the mugs (so much for suppliers product sheets), so I've corrected that.

2) You are correct, I make these babies by hand and I have only had time to photograph a few. Soon though, believe me.

3) These mug are NOT like anything you've seen before. These are FULL colour images, slightly large then real notes. The image is a bit "soft" up close, but still acceptable. I too have seen the stuff that's out there and I sincerely believe these are far superior.

3) I've added pencils, erasers (cheap stuff, but kind of cute)

4) Today I added a mouse pad. It's GREAT! I make it myself too.

5) Got another call from the BoC today, and they've put the idea on hold again. Seems I'm pushing their policies about copyright a bit hard. So… although the site is still there and you can look around, you can't buy.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Reminds me of the line… "For every action there is an equal and opposite Government program". ;-)

A buddy of mine thought it was real funny the Canada Post brought out the 'A' stamp years ago. Canada post wanted to raise the price of their stamps, but it hadn't gone through parliament. They ran out of stamps, and didn't know if their request would be passed, so they brought out a stamp with a stylized red maple leaf on it and the letter 'A' where the price would have been. They charged the old price for them until the legislation was passed, then they charged the new price. My buddy made copies of the stamp, except instead of the 'A', he put 'EH?' He made pins with this on it, and placed an add in the Globe and Mail and was doing a brisk business until the 'cease and desist' order came from Canada Post's lawyers…
