Does posting messages...

Does posting messages constitute you as an active participant with regard to progressing in CMT score? Maybe there should be stats for postings like "number of postings per month" or "number of characters per month posted" and have a top ten for that as well. Then we could also see geographic posting frequencies… I'll stop there.

Skylark

I'm almost certain that your posts are part of the equation for level boosts.
As for the extra post stats, I think they might be interesting but overall unimportant.

Lord_Comedy

No posting does not constitute being active with the score.

As for the geographic posting frequencies. I think it would be simular to bill distribution.
The more users in a region.. the more people posting..
Not all people who track money make posts.. But I am sure it would even out for area wise as well.
You can look though peoples profile & see howmany people posted how many messages already.
Personally I would not like to be part of score for message posting. even on a seperate scoreboard.
If you look on www.wherehaveibeen.com, you actualy get pionts on your main score for forum posts.. & posts to peoples personal forums.. almost like private message, but people see it in your profile.
People post every day to every different person, just cause they know they score points.
I think it is kinda sick getting points for posting messages. It becomes a popularity contest..

Sorry Skylark I think you are wrong with the part of it being in the equation for level boosts..
Perfect example is Jakethedrifter (rarely posts.) vs Idjit ( posts on a regular basis, but keeps to himself. )
simular bill count & hits.. Jake is slightly ahead in a shorter time. yet Jake is above Idjit in level.

Skylark

Oh ok. I was just going by GreenskeeperWilly who got promoted one day after me. (maybe he just didnt notice/login)

Lord_Comedy

Probably not, cause I am pretty sure all promotions are saturdays.
Every single promotoion I got has been on a saturday.

JaketheDrifter

…similar bill count & hits.. Jake is slightly ahead in a shorter time. yet Jake is above Idjit in level.

Actually, Idjit is ahead in level…he's at the very top rung of the ladder.

I agree with LC, giving points for number of messages posted and/or characters entered will result in a lot of long-winded meaningless posts. At wherehaveibeen.com, I have seen users post a congrats message EVERY time a person gets a hit. I have also seen users send Happy Easter/Happy Canada Day/Happy this or that day to every user on the site. This gets old pretty fast and, really, the congrats and Happy Whatever becomes meaningless.

I don't think our current "regular" users would abuse this, but I can see how new users could easily get caught up in this.

Quality is better than quantity.

Regarding User Levels, I think length of time as user also factors into things, so stick around, track your money and you will advance up thru the levels.

For the record: posting messages has nothing to do with your score or level for the very reasons Jake mentions. And all level updates happen on automatically Saturday morning (unless something goes wrong).

I can see it happening like Jake and LC mentioned, that lots of people would just post meaningless messages to get CMT points, if it would give points for it. As dr clarified already, there are no points for it and that is good.

I noticed though, that when I got a hit my points went up by around 30 points. I hope that the hits don't make such a difference to get on the top 10 for CMT points. Otherwise it looks like I might never get there, since I am not lucky with hits so far.

As you get more hits you get less points for each hit. I have 400+ hits and each hit now only gives me about .30… ;o(

Kordi

Aawww …sorry about that gouche :( You make me feel better though, maybe then there is a chance for me to get all those points?

willdo

I'm gald that posts don't count toward score. I think its nice the way you can just post a message and then communicate with everyone.

Kordi I hear you about hits….I'm still waiting for my first one. :(

Kordi

Willdo, I know before the first hit comes, I was wondering too "when will it happen?". One day you will log on and bingo there it is. It took me two months and entering 100 bills until I had the first hit. That was a wonderful feeling. Good luck, keep on entering and soon you will get your first hit :)
