For the past few weeks, I have been writing down the number of hits I've gotten each day. On Jan. 21, I noticed a discrepancy between the total number of hits shown in my profile, top ten, etc. and the actual hits showing on my view hits list. I went back to Dec 27/04 and this is what I found:
Jan 03/05 originally listed 13 hits, now only 12
Jan 08/05 originally listed 7 hits, now only 6
Jan 14/05 originally listed 4 hits, now only 3
Jan 18/05 originally listed 5 hits, now only 4
The strange thing is, the 4 missing hits have not affected my Total Hits count. It's as if they're still there but you just can't see them.
I also went way, way back and checked hits from Nov 25/02 to Jul 07/03 where, again I used to write down the number of hits daily and found numerous discrepancies for the entire period. As the number of hits I received each day increased, so did the amount of the discrepancy. For example:
Jun 16/03 originally 9 hits, now 5
Jun 17/03 "" 5 hits, now 4
Jun 18/03 "" 17 hits, now 9
Jun 19/03 "" 6 hits, now 6
Jun 20/03 "" 10 hits, now 7
Jun 21/03 "" 8 hits, now 5
Jun 22/03 "" 9 hits, now 10
Jun 23/03 "" 6 hits, now 5
Jun 24/03 "" 7 hits, now 2
Jun 25/03 "" 14 hits, now 9
Jun 26/03 "" 8 hits, now 6
Jun 27/03 "" 7 hits, now 4
Jun 28/03 "" 13 hits, now 10
Jun 29/03 "" 4 hits, now 2
I know that there should be some minor fluctuations for hits sent to heaven and for backdated hits, but this seems way off to me.
Has anybody else noticed this happening? Could this have anything to do with deploying the new version?
