Can anyone tell me why sometimes some cities show up with a " ~ " beside them on hit pages?

Under your profile preferences you can select Use the FSA when dislaying my location.
What does this mean? : Profile: Use FSA For Locations
Select this option if you wish do not want the system to pinpoint the location of your entries. For example, if you enter a bank note at T2S 2S5, a user will potentially be able to see that the note was entered somewhere in the vicinity of 17 Avenue and 4 Street SW in Calgary, Alberta.
However, if you select this option, the system will instead take an average of all postal codes in the T2S forward sortation area (FSA) and use that when displaying the location, which, in the case of T2S will display a map centred around 34 Avenue and 4 Street SW.
Note: This option does nothing with entries done using rural postal codes, which typically cover an entire town or hamlet. As such, rural postal codes are, by default, already using an average location.
Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks. I had been curious about that for awhile now.
