Look, all these people have 0 bills entered 0 hits entered, all logging withing minutes, some with similar names. I have noticed this starting yesterday, when I saw 3 eople in a row logged in with the near same name. It has been going on since then.

gouche92

Actually dendrochick has over 300 bills entered. As for the others I am not sure. I did notice a user name that appeared 3 or 4 times with numbers added to the name (ie:
Joe User123, Joe User234). Thought it was odd….

Not really sure what purpose it would serve either!!

Here are a bunch more of them:

It seems these are all the same guy. The same phrase is used in BRIEF: on all of the user profiles.

CalamityJanet

I noticed the same thing last night.

nutsonu is the one they stayed logged in under for at least 10 minutes. Don't understand the reason tho.

maybe DR may have to check out people who never entered any bills ( personal & hits combined ) and after a certain amount of time delte the account.

In some cases they could probably be deleted right away. I am all for cute nicknames/userids but if it is in bad taste it shouldn't be allowed, such as NUts**ss….

Lord_Comedy

Your probably right in some cases these could be deleted right away, but it is better to say give it a couple weeks/ a month. to wait and see if they do enter bills, and if not.. then delete the account.
I was looking at it as a space saving feature. If the person is not a participant with no bills entered then why waste the space of having them on the server.

I was thinking there are already a fair # of people with 0 bills entered on the system weather they are new bills ot other peoples bills. even b4 people have been coming on to hog names.
Soo why not delete these old accounts?

gouche92

For the most part I agree that new user accounts with $0 entries should be held onto for a while, but where it is obvious that someone is creating multiple accounts with slightly different names I think they should be deleted ASAP.

Perhaps the terms of use should include a comment about inactive accounts and how they might be deleted after X number of inactive months….. Food for thought….

Lord_Comedy

I think 1 and only person to really decide would be DR,
but as space on his computer deminishes he may think more about such a thought… HD space coming so cheap now he may not, but then there is also the thought about # of names available to new users.
with people not wanting to have #'s in their name character names are diminishing. I beleive this thread has given DR a few things to think about. and a little work if he decides to delete these accounts.

gouche92

I am sure that dr truly appreciates all of the wonderful and useful ideas we users can come up with… 8-)

And yet another person doing the same thing today;

cxcccccccc 16-Mar-2004 12:36 PM
ckelser 16-Mar-2004 12:35 PM
phycadellic 16-Mar-2004 12:35 PM
chelsea 16-Mar-2004 12:34 PM

All the profiles read the same
I guess if dr checks the IP address', he can find out if they are the same person.

JerBear

I just noticed that myself. Its probably the same person that has been at it for the last few days.

Lord_Comedy

could be.. but why would someone waste their time doing it?
unless someone from another site is just playing around to waste space on our server..
????? it seems silly to me

There is no explanation for what some people will do. For example, people that write virus code…..

Lord_Comedy

Example People that write virus code?
bad example.. these people are being productive in their own eye.. causing damage..
if these people are repair techs… then they may get some money in repairing it..
all these people are doing is wasting space with the names

teepeejay

Let's not be too quick on deleting inactive accounts. There are users out there who signed up to do us a favour by entering our bills. If these users are deleted, there is a great possibility that we will all lose hits. Sometimes these entries come weeks or even months apart. I do agree that totally inactive users, no entries, no hit entries and so forth (simply put 0's all the way down the board and I have seen quite a few), should be deleted immediatly.

Lord_Comedy

when I had said about deleting inactive accounts. that is exactly what I meant. Anyone with 0 entrees, that is hit entrees & personal entrees combined
In this way it will free up names, and people will keep the hits that have been received from people who enter the bill they find and never come back.

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me, if there are no entries made at all the account should be deleted.
