Team Bills

I think the number of bills entered should apply for teams.. This would be more fun since than we can compete in two catagories!! Than we can put in team hit %, there are quite a few possibilities here!!!

I vote for variation in some form at least as a pilot with review in 3 months. Place weighting on bill inputs and less, if at all, on hits. The statistical grouping in Sasketoon has a significant edge from the start.

…track the bills input as a team

Originally I was thinking I would keep track of that, but now I'm not sure sure I will. It's not so much the work involved in coding that, but more in terms of work placed on the database. The DB would need to update yet another table each time a bill is added. I've added to a list of potential things to do, but no promises.

…place weighting on bill inputs and less, if at all, on hits

This won't ever happen, and I'll tell you why. In fact, if anything the weight placed on the number of bills entered may be reduced. This site is not about simply entering bills. If it was then there would be no reason for anyone to mark their bills and promote hits. For example, although I didn't originally intend for people to write down and mark bills from their workplace (like IDJIT or SAUCY-EYE), I don't mind as they are both stamping their bills. This promotes the site and increases awareness of the site, but more importantly, this increases the number of hits on bills. These hits then allow us to track where bills have been, which is the while reason that this site exists. While this may not seem fair as someone may input a lot of bills and just have bad luck, I think that statistics have shown that if you input bills and mark them, you will get hits over time.

True maybe, but I've had a lot of fun competing with others on the site with # of bills entered. It's the instant gratification of zooming past, say, Pooga (although this hasn't happened yet), and the challenge of trying to catch Saucy-Eye that motivates me, not hits- at least yet. I may never catch some of the members who have had bills out there for two years, but I at least have some hope of competing on bills entered.

In terms of competing, the only top ten that matters as far as I'm concerned is the CMT Score, as that reflects the top 'all around' user. As I said, the point of the site is not simply to input in bills, it's to see where those bills end up after you've touched them.

It's a symbiotic relationship. Its the healthy competition between 'bill entered-ers' (hunter-gatherers) which produces results that pleases the 'bill- hits-ers' (planter-harvesters). No bills entered = no hits. Lots of bills entered = lots of hits. Assuming they are marked.

I agree. Most of my entries were Aug/Sept. It's only in the last month that the hits have been coming fast and furious. DR, do you have an average length of time on the hits? Some have been as low a few hours, others were over a year. Could you divide the total time by # of hits for a rough average?
