one million bits of information

Well for those of you who are into stats (Pooga) or other neat things may be interested in this…

On April 5th, the millionth piece of information was entered into the database. Basically, everytime an entry is made in the database, whether it's a note, a forum posting, or whatever, it's given a unique id number. And this number is unique across the database such that one piece of info could never be confused with any other piece of info. Anyway, to make a long story short, on April 5, 2004, Pooga entered a note and that note was given ID number 999,999 and the associated entry information for that note was given ID number 1,000,000. And for anyone who is ultra curious, ID number 1 was given to the country of Canada. :)

Are we ready for 2M? Are we going to need more drive space or anything?
Thinking over the past couple of years, the operation of this website has been smooooth! Yeah, we've had a couple of glitches, but considering the constant improvements and the volume of data input, as well as the demanding nature of users on the site- we haven't had many problems to comment about.
If there's anything we need to do, or buy that will keep us runnin' smooth, we should plan for that now. What's in the crystal ball, DR?

I'm impressed. I really like the stats features on the site. And, I'm glad the honours go to Pooga (My hit Daddy). He's done a lot for the site, in addition to taking me to it!
