I ran across this site today. If this sort of thing catches on, I can see the legislation on marking notes being changed soon. At least the message is not of a commercial nature.

I sure hope this doesn't happen. I really enjoy tracking money and if people start stamping with messages like that one, it really could change this.
does anyone ELSE find it completely laughable that if there WASN'T money to stamp, this idiot wouldn't have a medium for his message? why don't twits like this get a REAL hobby. i wonder what he used to pay for the stamp… or for his ISP. but that's right… he's a slave to no-one… not even his anarchist principles…
-the raving rude
(nice to see he uses THIS site as his de jure justification… this guy's brain would rattle in a flea's skull…)
I can't see people bothering to do this kind of thing, apart from a few kooks. Bear in mind how many bills we mark and what a small percentage it is of the bills in circulation. Surely the government can't be that paranoid that they would pass legislation to stop this kind of activity.
Well said rudyk- his brains are probably like a bag of squirming worms dont you think ?????
Any way of contacting whoever runs that site to ask him not to use CMT as an example of the legality of marking money? I mean, obviously it can be run however the person sees fit, and he probably doesn't come across that many bills a day (I hope), but I do see the danger.
It is normally consider proper netiquette to request permission to link to a website when using them as a reference or for source material, as in this case. When we do it to show airplane pictures or such, it isn't violating netiquette, because we aren't quoting them.

I believe that in the case of the airplance pics they invite people to link to the site and the pics, with certain guidlines and/or restrictions. You are right, it is proper netiquette to ask for permission to link if it is not given on the site itself….
i think you guys are all right in respect with the netiquette…(oh my, i am agreeing with men!!) and i do think that eventually BofC will restrict people from writting on bills…
do you guys think it would be wise to maybe ask him to take off this site as a link to his… Is this guy even a member here ? This will eventually spoil our habit if this catches on…. hope i am wrong…
I think i will be sending him a little email. I will be nice and to the point.
I think it would be wise. It will hurt us as well as WWers and WHIBers. And I don't want to be stuck only tracking a limited amount of U.S. currency I come across :(
That bothers me that he would link to this site. Honestly he seems like a wacko and thats not what this site is about and I dont think there are any wackos here :) or is there?LOL Ok, maybe me, but shhhhhh!!!!
There are a few of us wackos lurking about….. but nothing like the wacko in question….
If writing on bills becomes illegal we could still track them without writing on them (stealth). Sure it would be harder to get new users, but then you just have to advertise elsewhere. It wouldn't be the end of the world for money tracking.
