counterfeit $10 bill

Dang! I've been had. I don't know where or when, but I picked up a fake $10…and a good one too. My first tip-off was a "You have entered an unknown serial number prefix" when I tried to enter it on this site. No problem, I thought, it's a new serial number. The bill looked real, felt real, and in "fine" condition. But on closer inspection, I noticed the printing wasn't as "sharp" as another $10. Still, I figured it had maybe gotten wet at some point. To test, I wetted a corner & rubbed. Surprise! It turned to mush (the real one didn't). I checked out The Bank of Canada's website looking for how to spot a fake, and it failed the "raised ink" and "hidden 10" tests. However, the "hidden 10" is hard to see on a real bill, and there almost seems to be one on the fake. As for the "gold maple leaf", the fake passed! (although the quality wasn't quite as high). Now I gotta turn it in to the cops (that's what the B of C says). Well…maybe. But first I'm gonna show my friends! By the way….the serial # is FFM8084588, & I picked it up in or near Edmonton.

Take it to the RCMP/city police. And I've added the serial number to the counterfeit database.

Heh FFM isnt even close to being a real 10 serial number.
The F at the beginning is only correct.

Maybe….but that just goes to show the trouble someone went through to make this bill. It isn't just a photocopy! Someone, to some extent, designed it! I've shown it to friends…& they can't tell the difference at first. Even when I say one is fake, they just as often pick the fake as a real $10.
