:) This is an idea I just came up with… I'ld like comments of what people think b4 suggesting it.
- Each year in a yearly scoring system. Scores are reset to 0
A>None of your previous hits count toward your scoring for current year.
B>Hits on bills from previous years count for current years hits, but the bills themselves are not counted.
C>The new bills entered from Jan 1 of each year start your scoring.
This is a radical new concept, but it would reset everyone score at the begining of each year. Such that Idjit would be equal to Pooga, me, shewolf, goooodbeer, … everyone.
Everyone would start out equal.
Idjit would still have an advantage, cause he has way more bills out there than any of us.
However, it would give us all an equality point, & we can keep the regular scoring system as well, but I would like to think the NEW YEARS score system would be the main one people look at. Cause it resets each year.
Since money is always being taken out of circulation, & new money put in, It would give us all a chance to catch up to some leaders.
Such that.. If I mark 5000 bills from Aug - Dec 31, I will probably be getting hits daily in January
5000 in those 5 months may seem like alot. & it is.. but it will help in the new year.

It doesn't appeal to me either. It certainly doesn't seem fair to the pioneers who slogged away year after year to build the tracker community. And, it doesn't seem fair to people like myself who plod along adding a few bills at a time and slowly move up the ranks - only to be kicked back down the hill every January under your system. The only ones who would gain would be those who could enter large numbers of bills in a short period of time. Just my two cents worth!
I totally agree with the others, it does not appeal to me either. You can count this as a VOTE AGAINST the IDEA.
it would be a good idea for teams though. but then again we could do that on our own. form our own teams and make it a minimum of 3 or 4. then just tally the hits for one year or 6 months or even 3!
From someone who has only been on this site for about a week, but enjoying it…and still looking for first hit…I think this is a great idea! Haha…although in reality I agree with the others as it would be unfair to all of their previous efforts.

well Buckdollah you will surely climb and as I have proclaimed before,this is a very enjoyable and exciting site and does require lots of work and effort on ones part to make the climb. So for me enjoyable/exciting go hand and hand with work/effort……. :-)
This looks like a great idea if you are fairly new to the site. However I think it is unfair to those that have spent the time to get to the point where they are.
Perhaps there could be some sort of monthly/yearly leaders similar to the weekly list that dr currently has the system generate.
In it's original state it is not an idea I would endorse…
Perhaps you could group the users as to how many bills they have entered. 1 to 1,000, 2,000 to 3,000 and so on. This way we could have users within a group competing with each other. Users near the bottom of the list would at least have bragging rights within their group. As it stands now, there is a very slim chance that the lower users will ever get into the top 10 in any category regardless of total bills entered and total hits. But at least they would have a chance within their group. That's my penny's worth.

I think many people missed my idea, This would be a secondary scoring system to give everyone a point of equality, where everyone would start fresh each year.
In this scoring system it wouldn't take a full year of entering the maximum number of bills each day just to catch up to the top 10's bill entry for when you started.
It gives everyone a chance to compete nearly right away.
Not to say.. Pooga & Idjit, Maggie, Jake & the other top 10 people don't deserve recognition. The Overall scoring system would still have them at the top, but the new year scoring system, might give them some competition.
Look in Idjits profile. Idjit quote "My happiest times are when I'm camping with my family or chasing someone on CDN-MONEY.COM."
This may make Idjit chase new people.

I do like all of your input. My Idea is a thought of how to make the site more attractive to all.
i like the present system, daily entries are important but so is the length of time we are in CMT. the concept of tracking is to see where the money goes not to see who marks more money. course this is only my opinion
I have to agree with you jknoke that the whole idea of this site is tracking money not a contest like some like to believe that it is. That's my 2 cents worth
I don't like the idea either. I like the current way and think it should just be left alone.
How about a system that only scores points based on the last 52 weeks activities? (And doesn't reset to zero)Updated daily or weekly? In other words, anything entered more than a year before the current date is meaningless.
That way, you would have to be a consistant user in order to get up high, but those who have joined in the last few months can have some incentive to work, and old timers would have to keep up their pace.

You can tell CMT ers are happy! When people are happy they like things left well enough alone. Also, it never hurts to ask! You may come up with an idea that everyone would like.
You are trying hard LC and that is good -it opens our minds to other points of view but I still like the system the way it is- It has been said before and I will say it again the site is about Tracking the flow of Money not a Contest to see who gets the most hits.
Actually, I kind of like Sarge's idea as a secondary scoring system.
I think it has merit and should be discussed further.
