Just wondering if anybody noticed this about the new 5's:
The paper seems thin and porous. I stamped them about 5 pm and I noticed that by 9 pm the ink from the stamp had almost bled through! I've never seen that before (except with a felt marker). It's definitely not the same as other notes. The stamp is visible from the opposite side.
They're 100% cotton, so be careful, they may shrink if you was them on hot. haha
If you stanp the front where the gold parliament buildings are, the ink just balls up and you can rub it off even an hour later. It's like the anti-grafitti paint you can get- the grafitti paint won't adhere to it.

Yeah, that was a thought, but I think it's just the reflective ink they are using. I think they should design bills with a white spot for us to stamp the bill. It's kind of inconvenient to look for a place to put my stamp.
I'll try the laser printer, but it will only work on fine quality bills or better. So far, since I've begun experimenting, I haven't had a good quality 10, and still haven't seen the new 5s.
Spent my 4 lonely new 5s in 4 different places on Fri/Sat. Nobody had seen them yet and were quite interested in what they look like and the new 'security' features. Hopefully that will lead to a couple of quick hits on them in the next few days!
Gotta get a bundle Monday and start spending!
I haven't seen any of the new fives but they look kinda cool… although the stamps might not work on them so they might not be too cool… BUT i don't have a stamp so a pen should work fine… YA PENS!! (We should get pens made up that say "Track your bills @ www.cdn-money.com", ya that would be hardcore)
so anyways I think they are on to us, most definatly and yes Idjit, a white box would be nice because the stinkin new bills are not setup to stamp or write on… grrrr..

1: I noticed the bleeding.. Its almost like when you use a permanent marker on paper and it bleeds through out the paper. Didnt come through the opposite side though.
2: Yaa, a white spot would be kinda neat, but if they had a white spot people would wonder why the white spot was there, then the gov. would tell the about the site(s) there for we wouldnt need to stamp…… (what a long sentance)
3: There is a little spot to stamp on but the colors are dark and crazy so its hard to notice the stamp/writing!
Anyway, was in EDM for 3 days and came back to 108 messages. Only 1 more hit :(
I like the pen idea, but whatever happened to those T-shirts? If I'm going to be handing out pens I want to have a T-shirt!
How about an authentic bill of laws with a law that states we're not doing anything wrong
How about a promo T-shirt that states that we're not doing anything wrong, just spending our money in the most civically responsible way possible. That the Bank of Canada says that is NOT illegal to stamp bills, and that such stamped bills if legible are also LEGAL TENDER, besides our URL that says HIT ME!
