Although I am not a monarchist, I do admire what the Queen Mother accomplished in her lifetime. Born the year BEFORE Queen Victoria died, her lifetime spanned 3 centuries! Considering she was never meant to be Queen, she certainly was instrumental in British royalty's popularity and what stability it retains. My mother still talks of seeing her during the 1939 Royal Visit. Her resolve during the Blitz is legendary. Widowed at the age of 51, and spent the next 50 years living up to her reputation, and keeping the common touch, a rare thing for royalty.
dr, time for a banner and a link or two.
Sarge: I understand that she was Colonel-in-Chief of 3 Canadian regiments. I know that the Black Watch was one. What were the other 2?
