Australian notes

Picked up an Australian $5 bill today! If you haven't seen one, they are different! Quite a bit smaller than Canadian, and plastic! The main security feature is a see-thru window.

Royal Bank, main branch, in Saskatoon has all kinds, and the lady was kind enough to show me all the denominations, and the different series in them.

So I HAD to buy one, just to have one! If anybody wants one, I can get more. $5 is the smallest, and right now, A$ are almost on par with C$.

Bah, being half Australian (as is T-rev) I've seen all those fancy notes. :)

i have seen these before, someone told me that they cant rip due to their plastic. is this true?

Pooga

They don't rip. You can scrunch them up and they bounce right back.

But I was told that if they get a nick in them, they will crack right across the bill and just fall apart.

Poogie, was there not talk about converting CDN Money into this kind of money, however, they said it would cost too much? or did i read this here in the forums at one time…

I would believe the inital switch would be alot, but over time it would save alot of money with plasic money being more durable and in circulation longer than paper money.
As from what i have heard that printing plasic money is not that much more expensive than paper money, yet lasts alot longer
such that if it cost 3 cent to make a $20 that lasted a year in paper
making a $20 in plasic would cost 5 cents and last 10 years
i have heard it is something close to that equivelent.

The inital switch over would cost alot.
