I'm new to this, but from what I've seen all the hits and succes comes from B.C., Saskatoon, etc. Is there anyone from Kitchener, Waterloo, Toronto, etc, doing this ? Or does Whereswilly have this end all wrapped up??

MmmBeer

No, all though we do need people from the east, we do got a few users. One in NB one in toronto and a few in Manitoba. Dont forget PQ… Hopefuly you stay and track your money.

Pooga and I were the only ones in Saskatoon for a couple months, but once a few more people got on board, things took off big time. So keep on it, be patient, and the good hits will come. As for the Dark Site, there are comments on other messages about their incestuous hits and activities.

Serotonin

Believe me, there are lots of interesting people on this site, with new ones coming on board all the time. They seem to stay.

BabyDutka

well I wouldn't say the other site has this end totally wrapped up. Ontario actually has a attempting team called team OMA (of which I am the captain of) I myself am from Oshawa and so is my teamate Fusion but both of use struggle for a) time to come on here and b) bills. SO we if you want to join a desperatly trying team let me know and we'll do it… otherwise its good to know that there are other Ontarioins out there tracking bills!!

STORMCHASER77: The reason why it seems like Sask is the center of the CMT world now is because it has grown from a few determined people. I am a late starter (you can see from my profile). Try to think of yourself as the 'guy who gets in at the ground floor'. If you start circulating bills, you will create interest, and it will grow from there. Don't worry about the other site, they'll take care of themselves.

BTW, Are you interested in storm chasing as your handle suggests? I have an interest in this area, too…

STORMCHASER77

Yes. My name says it all. I love to chase them. I haven't seen a tornado yet but I have seen some interesting lightning.

Idjit

They are awe inspiring. Every time we get a storm around here, I'm out on the lawn watching the clouds. Not as crazy as some of the folks on a tornado video I have though- too dumb to take cover when it's time!

MmmBeer

Speaking of lightening, have you ever seen one go in a loop or circle. While driving in Sask (around saskatoon) once I seen one flash down, than back up, than down again in a loop. That was the most interesting thing i've seen i tell you. I always wonder what i would of got for a picture like that? (money wise)

Idjit

The big time storm chasers in the 'states sell tornado footage by the second. I even saw a page with rates somewhere. Video has to be good, and you have sell it right away- yesterday's news is worthless.

Some years ago in Saskatoon we had what is called a 'plow wind'. The wind speed went from virtually zero to about 120 kph in a matter of seconds. Lots of damage and so forth, but it was cool to be in the middle of an unusual weather formation.

Pooga

Not so cool. You were on the other side of the city. Our area got hit pretty hard. Just about everyone lost shingles, and there were a lot of uprooted trees. (plow=American? maybe plough?)

Our house got off lightly. But the most amazing sight was a couple of ashphalt shingles sticking into our window frames like knives in butter! A couple of inches either way and they would have been through the glass! You better believe we were in the basement for a little while when it hit. (I thought that the windspeed was calculated at 140 kph.)

Idjit

Pooga: a postscript to 'plow wind' although it wasn't widely reported in the media, the weather office finally admitted it was a tornado. I remember it well, though- I was working at Flexi-Coil at the time, in charge of, among other things, security. We had some fine video of some 1200 gallon sprayer tanks blasting through a gate, and a large toolbar being pushed across the road by the wind. Awesome stuff.

CalamityJanet

Ya, that was real cool to be in, NOT!

We live on the east side, where it was worst and I was outside quickly tucking away a few things because the wind came up so fast. I decided it was time to go in when a shingle flew a foot over my head and sliced thru my clothes line.

When it was done, you could see the outline of my husband's car on mine, they were both sandblasted. Man was he PO'ed, it was a new car in Feb, then to have the paint pitted only a few months later…

"We had some fine video of some 1200 gallon sprayer tanks blasting through a gate, and a large toolbar being pushed across the road by the wind."

I believe it. My dad had an empty liquid fertilizer tank in the field (waiting to be picked up by the dealer), when one of those big winds hit our parts of the province (Assiniboia area). That tank flew through the air like a big balloon, nearly smashing into a neighbour trying to drive her truck to rescue her husband from where he was working. The tank finally came to rest miles away from where it started.

I'm sure I would have shat myself, had I seen a tank that big flying towards my little truck. gasp

I WAS living on the east side at the time, in College Park. Trees were torn down all along Acadia Dr, and the front was ripped off of that C&W nightclub on 8th st.
