Strange $5.00 bill

This may not be that strange but it is to me. I have a five dollar bill that was issued in 2002 but it's print date is in 2003. I've never noticed that before, is this common? I am quite new here and haven't really took the time to carefully look bills over before joining this site.

The bill was designed in 2002
The date of printing is the actual date of printing

and yes this was very common in 2003

Keep your eyes open though because there are some interesting bills out there.

And not only that, there's a copyright date on these new bills now too. (Do they really need to copyright MONEY? I think everyone knows well enough without having to put the c symbol on like it's a consumer good) So I do believe, depending on the circumstances, that it's possible to have a bill with a different issue date, print date, AND copyright date! Crazy eh?

Unlike the older series, one had to rely on the prefix and signatures to determine when they were printed/issued. For example the first issue of 2002 $5s were actually printed in 2001 and the new $10s in 2000! In the previous Bird series such as the $20s we're seeing some very nice AV and AY prefixes along with a slew of older 1991 banknotes.
