Okay so I'm sure this has been asked a million times before [ahem] (I would like to be able to search archives for message content by typing in a word or two… dr?), but is the only reason for stamping a bill to increase the chances of one's own hit?
I mean, I haven't been stamping my bills… and notice I have no hits (yeah, I know it's counter-productive and shouldn't really expect hits), but are their other cons to not marking bills? Will I have to bear the wrath of everyone here?

Or something along the lines. You won't Gaurenteed, get any hits from people other than this site. The odds are extremely slim with that also. If you want some hits, grab a stamp, highlite the serial #s..

In Saskatoon, with all the users out here, you MIGHT get a bill hit without it being stamped. But the odds are slim. Sarge entered something like 500 bills when he started without marking and has no hits from those.
Even if you don't stamp them, at least write the URL on the bill.
In Saskatoon, Rose's makes self inking stamps (and it's even cheaper if you have an old on you don't use anymore). And of course any of the stationary stores have do-it-yourself stamps.
The reasons for marking bills varies from person to person. Ultimately, your chances of getting a hit are slim without mark due to the high amount of currency in circulation. That may be okay for you, but really, the point of the site is to see where your money goes after it's been in your possession. And you can't find that out without getting hits, and it's pretty hard to get hits without marking. So while there is the personal satisfaction from receiving a hit, it should hopefully be the coolness factor that drives you: the fact that someone else in some other place had your bill and you can watch it go places. Make sense?

Yup, makes sense. So then really, the only chance I have for getting a hit, is if one of you guys enters the bill. And then it would be your work which generated future hits, because you'd all likely stamp them. Well now. That's not fair to you, is it.

This is pretty crude, but you can make one out of a potatoe. Carve the letter (make sure they are mirror image) and use a stamp pad. Did this when I was a kid, but my dad confiscated it after he saw my art work…
Less messy than a potato is an eraser. One of those nice white ones. In fact, I might try that myself… As long as the tool is sharp, it should be fine. At least, the eraser wouldn't fall apart like those nasty pink and blue ones. Do they still make those? They were a weapon themselves…
I dont like the Pink Pearls.. Create too much of a mess, don't do that good of a job, and smell bad:) They're still better than the blue ones which hardly even erase. Yaa, they still make 'em. The worst is the half pink, and half blue! I'd take a white on any day

Suffice it to say it was material not 'age appropriate' for a ten year old. Paticularly distressing to my dad was that I was stamping fences in the neighborhood liberally- with indelible ink. I think it was an irate neighbor who blew the whistle on me.

Yay! Someone noticed! I got it from Rose's. I was getting braver, so I wanted something that stood out more. It works! I am getting more hits from the new stamp. I don't know if it's from the red ink, the shape or what, but when I 'release' a bill, I find that it often gets hit right away. I've been stamping bills with black ink for the last few days because I ran out of red :-(
I noticed this also! I have been using RED INK for the last month and adapted a great increase in hit percent. What font do you use on your stamp Idjit. I got about a 12 font… People seem to be able to read it decently. Might buy a 14 font stamp..
It's only partially the color- it's also the stamp's shape… but you'll have to wait for the 'hall of fame' gallery to see it…
I wonder if yellow ink would work better considering humans are most sensitive to the color yellow. What do you think Serotonin?
A darker yellow, maybe, but a normal Yellow would blend in with the bills' colors! Worth a try
