This is only remotely related to money (rent is money), but I'd like to know if anyone in Saskatoon could give me advice on where to find a good two-bedroom apartment? I'm tired of where we live and would like to move on up.
I've been trying to find things online, but it's a lot tougher than I first assumed.
My dream, of course, is to find a little acreage (I'm still a farm girl, missing the rural life), but for now apartments will have to do. Even a duplex or something.
Thanks, guys.
Come to the right place for what might seem like an odd question.
- How well do you know Saskatoon? Been here long?
- Sarge HAD a basement suite, but it's rented now. He does have an idea what the market is like.
- Best of all, CJ is in the rental business. Maybe she can lend a hand.
- Why am I replying when I have nothing to do with it? Too much energy today. Must go on roof and take down Easter lights. Clear out shed. Do yard. Think about supper……
The best place is Capetown or Lake Chapala in Mexico.
Pooga: ?Easter Lights . Is that peculiar to the Julian calendar tradition or to an oddity of Saskatoon?
To be exact, the UN ranks Canada the best country in the world. That includes the best to live in. It doesn't specify where in Canada, though.
?Easter Lights
Never had a chance to take down the Xmas lights. Then either the weather was poor, or I was too busy…
.. hence Easter lights. Any longer and they would have been Victoria Day lights!
"Experts" say that Vancouver is #1 in the world.. I dont know what they're smokin' but I think Calgary is alot better than Van.. Sorry Saucy :-)
Having been to both places, Calgary and Vancouver are both about even. They probalbly liked Vancouver becaouse of the ocean, but Calgary is pretty clean compared to Vancouver.
Calgary has more extremes in weather than Edmonton or Saskatoon. Capetown and Lake Chapala/Ajijic in Mexico reputedly have the best climates in the world' average year round temp. 70 degrees F. For Sarge, and Calamity Janet,Lake Chapala was the home for DH Lawrence for 2 years. He wrote "The Plumed Serpent" there. Largest expatriate communities for America and Canada. Have to be self-sufficient though. Pooga, leave the lights up. At your age Christmas comes faster. Or how about a party to celebrate 'taking down the lights'? You must get a break on kegs of beer.
We get FREE kegs of beer off of expense!!! Whos coming to Calgary?
But MmmBeer, you said you don't like beer?
I Know.. I still get kegs of it. It was cider anyway, i got one cider and one lager keg. Other folks can drink it, besides, im under age..!
Forget the city Quinton sask is nice little place its like living on an acreage and its a good place to distribute money from
I'd take the keg of cider off your hands, if I lived near you.
Pretty pricy if i wanted to ship a keg of cider from Calgary to Nova Scotia.. Have you heard of Magwers cider or strongbow.. You must heard of Moosehead if you live in the maritimes. Its brewed out there!

Well, that's what I'd like, but my partner isn't too keen on leaving town. Job opportunities, you know. Cheaper groceries. What's the population of Quinton?
I've been in S'toon for going on two years. I have an idea of the good and bad neighbourhoods.
Which reminds me, why is it, that in any city, there tends to be a "right side" and "wrong side" of the tracks? In Saskatoon, it seems to be east side and west side of the river…
Cheap houses and taxes one hour fom Regina 150 people all kinds of opportunities life is what you make it you know
I know them well all three are personal friends of mine.
life is what you make it you know
You bet. Some people can't get over the fear of change, though. I'm guilty of that sometimes… :o(
HA HA HA ! I wondered about that myself when I first read the first few posts. I was beginning to think that this was some new Canadian tradition I had missed out on for being in Quebec way too long! I would not have called them Easter lights, come next Christmas I would just say that I chose to have clear lights up this year b/c all the paint would have faded off the bulbs by then. Wow, I thought it was just me who found this odd.
Pooga has an intriguing method of interacting with life.
