Bottom of the pile...

If today is still Friday on CMT then today while I was paying for a small purchase at the Rochedale Superstore, the cashier, Marlene took the two stamped fives I gave her and did not say anything but picked up her whole file of fives in the drawer and put my two on the bottom! That was the lowest, meanest thing I can think of and really put me in a bad mood for a while. Well the next customer won't get them but hopefully they get recirculated soon. Has anyone ever seen a nasty trick like this done to silently prove a point or power trip without saying a word?

Idjit

Yeah. One of my co-workers does this with my bills and other marked bills that she finds in the till. It's a petty little game she plays because she doesn't like me. Fortunately, we seldom work an entire shift together, so after she's gone, and I have time, I dig 'em all out and get them into circulation again. If they are larger denominations, I miss quite a few because they get dropped in the safe and I don't mess around in there when the store is open.
What can say? Some people are just miserable, and can only get some small measure of pleasure when they are trying to make others miserable. The trick is to never let them rent space in your head because if they do, they will succeed in their quest. Remember, only you can decide if you are going to be happy or not. Leave these other folks to be slaves to their negativity.

JOYCER DON'T BE SO SOUR MAYBE JUST MAYBE SHE PLANS TO RECORD THE SERIAL NUMBERS HERSELF AND GIVE THE SITE A VISIT OR EVEN GIVE YOU A HIT. NOW SHE CANNOT DO THAT IF SHE GIVES THE BILLS TO THE NEXT PERSON IN LINE. NOW IN THAT LIGHT WAS IT THE MEANEST THING OR A VERY KIND GESTURE?????
I CANNOT HELP BUT WONDER WHY SO MANY PEOPLE ALWAYS THINK SO NEGATIVE. OR MAYBE SHE KNOWS A TRACKER AND SAVES THESE BILLS FOR THEM.

Joycer are you sure that proving a point or power trip was her intent? I do the same thing when someone hands me a marked bill because I want to record it as soon as I have a moment. After I have a chance to record I put right it back on top and hand it to the next customer in their change.

the problem here, and what some people are clearly unable to discern, is that tracking is about following the normal flow of money. by taking the stamped money and placing it at the bottom of the pile this person was upsetting the normal flow. it is aberrant in the same way that altering one's spending patterns by switching to a preponderance of 5 dollar denomination is aberrant, or by exchanging money with known members and entering it is abberent or by simply putting the money aside to give to a "known tracker" is aberrant. to some, tracking is all about points. to others, who find it interesting to see how money flows and who may choose to study the patterns and statistics, the points are the last thing which keeps us here. i am also "soured" by joycer's experience – but there are many actions taken by others, sometimes self professed good trackers, that sour me even more.

MAN YOU WERE SOUR WHEN YOU ENTERED THIS SITE AND I WOULD THINK LONG BEFORE YOU CAME ONLINE. DO NOT BLAME OTHERS FOR YOUR POOR OUTLOOK ON LIFE.

Thank you members for the different points of view… I usually try to be nice and if I was going to save a bill to record, I would smile and say, "oh goody" or something to let the customer know my intention was honourable. I never thought of that aspect and she didn't convey any friendly gestures as I'm sure a tracker would. I enjoy tracking and circulating marked money and will not let this detract me again… I have just never seen this done and was temporarily shocked. I've had a young teller call a supervisor because he thought the bill was smaller but she said it was fine and did not comment on the stamp. If this happens again I will cheerfully ask if they are a tracker and offer a nice comment about our site and carry on. I did miss that opportunity.

I always put the most recently received money at the bottom of each pile. That way the old ones (which are of course marked) get a chance to go out and get a hit without sitting there forever. I never run out of fives in the till as I keep adding. to the BOTTOM. This is not interrupting the normal flow of money. This is how I have always doen it. even before I started tracking.

I ahve also seen the practice of putting the most current bills on the bottom of the pile long before I started entering bills on CMT.

I have had bank tellers place my stamped bills on a seperate pile, not sure what happened to them after that.

I doubt it otherwise you woulda told me this story.

BANKCOLLECTOR

No I have not met Rudy face to face.
I have invited him to our Saskatoon meeting and the offer was declined.
Please read many of the past posts in various forums where our offer for Rudy to attend any of our gatherings has been declined.

This message was prepared in upper case and converted for ease of reading for most members.

Knowing BC he wouldn't be able to make it due to the nature of his business. You never know with him though, he may just surprise us….

ASK ME IN THE SUMMER I UNLIKE SOME WORK ON A ON CALL BASIS IN THE WINTER IF IT SNOWS I MUST BE OUT WITH THE EQUIPMENT AND MOVE AT VERY SHORT NOTICE. I CANNOT BE THREE HOURS AWAY AS MY CUSTOMERS DEPEND ON ME. IN THE SUMMER THINGS ARE MORE SCHEDULED AND CAN PLAN FOR FIELD TRIPS. SCARED HMMMMMM I DON'T THINK REGINA HAS ANYTHING THAT SCARY AND TO SOME I AM VERY NICE SO I GUESS IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE COMPANY. SHEWOLF… RUMOR HAS IT THAT YOUR MOVING TO SASKATOON IS THIS TRUE?

ALSO ONE OF MY FRIENDS DAUGHTER IS GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEKEND AND I AM HELPING AT THE WEDDING (STAMPING ALL THE MONEY THAT IS RECEIVED AS GIFTS :-)) ACTUALLY I AM RUNNING THE TILL FOR THE CASH BAR SO WILL TAKE MY STAMP WITH ME FOR THE SLOW TIMES AND MY PAD FOR THE SERIAL NUMBERS. WOULD LOVE TO COME TO ONE OF YOUR GATHERINGS MAYBE EVEN BRING THE BOYS WITH ME JD BDK WUBBER MAN (FORMALLY KNOWN AS GOUCHE) & JERBEAR FIVE CAN TRAVEL FOR ALMOST THE SAME AS ONE IN MY VAN AND I WOULD NOT HAVE TO DRIVE. BDK IS OUR DRIVER. SO PLEASE ASK US AGAIN IN THE SUMMER.

BC says: I CANNOT BE THREE HOURS AWAY AS MY CUSTOMERS DEPEND ON ME.

ummm… you're the boss, you have employees..

;)

BANKCOLLECTOR

THANKS J LYNN BUT I JUST BOUGHT MY FRONT END LOADER AND I AM THE ONE WHO DRIVES IT … NOBODY ELSE FOR NOW. THE SKID STEERS (BOBCATS) SURE NO PROBLEM EMPLOYEES USE THEM ALL THE TIME BUT I PAID FAR TOO MUCH FOR THE LOADER TO LET SOMEONE ELSE BREAK IT IN. LIKE LETTING AN EMPLOYEE DRIVE THE BRAND NEW TRUCK … NOT.
ME AT THE TILL NO PROBLEM MY STAMPS ARE READY.
