Received four $5.00 bills from local bank. One torn half way through the middle, one with torn and missing corners, one with chocolate?????? smeared on one side and one you could park a small car in. Teller blind…….. or………..any comments. I have stamped two of these bills but they probably won't make it too far. any sense in stamping the third and fourth?……Sure!! Why not!!
Heck ya, tape it up and send it on its way. The condition I see some fives in, they obviously don't see the bank, they stay in circulation unless a cashier pulls it and makes sure it goes in their deposit instead of thier float at the end of the nite.
You may want to take your car out before you tape it up though. I don't think it will fit in your wallet very well that way :-)
i hate to admit this, but I gave a few bills out today… (stamped)… and the condition of the bill was embarrassing… but I knew the people were going out of town, so i said to myself.. oh hell, why not! its still worth 5$.
lol
You might be surprized at how long bills in that condition stay in circulation…You should see some of the bills I get from the bank..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Bank of Canada honour bills that have more than 50% of them left? I remember reading something about that…and something about them doing chemical analysis on burned money, and replacing them as well. Any experts have the answer?
Ah what a great tool the internet is. Please see below for information on mutilated notes:

The 5's around my town are mostly in good condition. Have yet to see a Joyerney in really bad condition. :P
and I believe a note must be 60% there in order for it to be excepted. If it was 50 all you have to do to duble your money is chop your bills in half.
