Hi - I just found a Fiver marked with this site. I joined, and I may end up insane - but at least I'll me amused along the way.

Lookin' forward to seeing if I can generate at least ONE hit.

I expect it will be hard though - I don't work with cash, and I'll only be able to mark intermittenly.

But - I like the premise of this.

Welcome to the site!
"I may end up insane?" You got it backwards, if you're here, you're already insane- this site just aggravates the situation. Brings the illness to the fore, if you will.
Anyway, enjoy the site, and if you have any questions, just shout!

Just remember to mark your bills so people know to give you a HIT.. A common phrase is"
track this bill online across canada www.cdn-money.com</i? Circle or highlite the serial #s You should get hit(s) in no time

m_macdonald99

I've been writing the website along the upper left corner of the bill's front and "track me" down the right side.

On the back I've written the website beneath the serial numbers, and "track me" down the right side again.

Is this overkill?

m_macdonald99

Funny you should say that I'm already insane - my wife agrees!

I think I will enjoy the site and representin' the burgeoning Maritime markers.

MAGWER

Not overkill but your writing hand will start to get sore. I suggest getting a stamp to make it a lot easier.

m_macdonald99

Yeah - I think I may do that – there's a place nearby that I can go to… How many bills would I need to pass out before I finally get a hit? I may reward myself with the stamp when I get a hit. Or should it be that I get the stamp anyway?

MAGWER

I had over six hundred bills before a hit, and now am up to nine in the last month. No stamp yet, but I use a red pen now. Stands out a lot more.

MmmBeer

Although you will get a hit just writing on the bills, your most likely to get a hit with a stamp.. ESP red in color. According to the Stats page it about 32 bills entered before a hit. But it depends on how you mark your bills. If your desperate experiment with how you mark. Visit other tracking sites to get ideas.
Good Luck..

What I find interesting about site postings is being witness to a rapidly evolving language that is seemingly distant from our English language, grammar and spelling rules. What has taken hundreds of years to reach our period is in danger of being replaced in a matter of years. It's going to make crossword puzzles more difficult. Oh, well…

ANGLOFROG

Especially when watching some news stories, they tend to make up words these days. Little things too for example when they mispronounce the word THE. It's THEE apple, not THE apple (long 'e' not short 'e').

Idjit

Some of my favorites: 'threepeat'.
Then there's the change in meaning of the word 'gay'. First, it meant you were happy, then it meant you liked guys, now, if something is bad or out of fashion, its 'gay'.
Computer technicians: 'chipheads'
How about this one- CMT: Crazy Money Techies…

BDKINGSTON

Another one that bugs me is when they say hand fulls when it should be hands full. Full is an adjective and adjectives can not be made plural..This is reserved for nouns only.

cheezie

Being a writer of sorts, those kinds of things stick out. The your vs you're, the too vs to… And what has stuck at me for the past while is… when talking about a few people… "It was John, Jack, and myself who won." Shouldn't it be "me"? Or have I learned that wrong? Maybe it's just a perfectionism thing… or… And I hate when people say "I seen" instead of "I saw"!

cheezie

What about the word 'says' being pronounced 'sayz' (long a) instead of 'sez'?

Yup. I was just thinking about that one. Did people not go to school? Did they not learn their "reading and writing and 'rithmatic"? Oy.

Serotonin

And I, with all innocence, thought that people were deliberately forcing the English language into one which is completely phonetical.

Serotonin: Europe will soon get a universal language!

The European Union commissioners have announced that agreement has been reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications, rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement, and has accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as EuroEnglish (Euro for short).

In the first year, "s" will be used instead of the soft "c". Sertainly, sivil servants will resieve this news with joy. Also, the hard "c" will be replased with "k". Not only will this klear up konfusion, but typewriters kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replased by "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20 per sent shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "e"s in the languag is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" by "Z" and "w" by "v".

During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou", and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech ozer.

ZE DREM VIL FINALI KUM TRU………………………………….

I HATE when people shorten words or abbreviate them on chat lines..
Stuff like lol, lv, ttyl, 'k, aight, etc.
It really makes me mad for some reason.. :S
