WTG Jade11…..Long time sleeper!
The fact that it was a $5 note is interesting. I don't think that 5s usually last that long.
Considering it was a 1986 bill.
I think the '86 bills last a lot longer than the '02 ones. Better quality?
I think we'll have to give it a bit more time to find out if the '86 bills last longer than the '02 ones. But you could very well be right.
I think the average life span for a 5 dollar bill is 6 months.
That is amazing after all those years to be entered. Maybe the bill came later from the bank into use, just like right now some older bills.
Sorry wally I heard the New $5 bll have more cotton in them to make them last longer.
They may not stay in pristine Ef or Au condition long, but they are suppose to last longer.
The bills are printed 100percent cotton paper. and last about a year. but alot of collecters think that the new notes are worser for wear.
Oh and a new contract has been awarded to a German company that might make our notes better/worse.
I know the 2002 $5's are supposed to last longer than the 1986 ones, but basing my opinion on the condition of the $5's I have received from the bank the last two times, the new ones are a lot worse for wear and tear.
I hear ya Wally the last few times I picked up $5's they were a real mess.
