Recently I've come across this site Geocaching.com were people use GPS to find hidden caches. Really interesting!
And right now I've found a discussion were they use weresgorge to track bills they've placed in the caches.
Is anyone doing that here and is it allowed?
One problem is that notes would get an unfair advantage in the top ten. WheresGeorge.com allows the tracking of them but they are not given any placement in the ranks.
Aha! I have geocached and I track money. But I've never combined the two. Kinda a good idea, but it means letting go of at least a fiver, and I don't know if I can live with that! :)
Skylark, you're thinking that because of the nature of geocaching, the bills in question would have a much greater chance of being hit, right? It may be that hardly any users will do this and in reality, it might make no difference at all. Or it might. What does everyone else think about that? What about the idea of separating geocached bills from the others, where they could be tracked separately, as is the case with WheresGeorge?
Geocaching is pretty fun, and I recommend it to anyone with a GPS. Most of the caches tend to be hidden in parks and other green spaces so it gives you a good excuse to go exploring in your own backyard or in places you are visiting.
$5 might be a lot but you might get something nice in return.
If this issue has never been brought up before then perhaps we could send out some test notes and put a little star or GPS beside its title.
lol lost me skylark………. I turn on the computer push money site or games and what in heck is geocache??????????? blonde but smart…..:-)
Geocaching is basically treasure-hunting with a GPS. Someone hides a stash (cache), gets the locational coordinates (latitude and longitude) and enters them into an online database. As the searcher, you download those coordinates and try to find the cache only from that information using a GPS. It is rather fun!
