Hits in CMT

A thought occurred to me concerning how hits weigh in the CMT score. dr has never told us, and I really don't need to know, but I thought I would run this by all of you.

First, I wonder if a hit would could count a little more heavily in the score the longer it has been in circulation. For example, a hit that happens 200 days after initial entry counts a bit more (say 20%) than a hit 20 days after entry. A base, or average would have to be established though. Hits quicker than the base would not be penalised, but longer hits would get a small bonus. It would be a sort of reward for having a bill stay in circulation longer.

Second, a hit could count slightly higher the further it it happens from the initial entry location. As an example, using a Saskatoon bill (since there are more of them!), a hit in Saskatoon would bring a base score to the CMT, but a hit 500 km away would be worth a bit more, say 1% more per 100 km, in this case, 5%.

These are just random speculations, and before dr shoots them down, I thought I would run them up a flagpole and see if anybody salutes.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Maybe you are looking to socialize your idea or maybe dialoging for feedback.

Ok, I won't ruin the thread already. I think hit percentage has a greater impact than distance or length of time circulating. I found that my first hits were worth nearly 10 points, now they are worth only one. My hit percentage is alot lower than yours. How many points do you get/hit?

What should be the time frame for derailing the thread?Well, why not…. "Flagpoles" speaks to the military nature of some users; I find it a graphic metaphor which distills Pooga's concept into a hard-hitter. My bet is that you have nailed two of the important variables. Do you think there are any points added just for logging into to the site on a regular basis? Without adding bills?

Hadn't noticed anything like that recently. But I could believe it. Remember that dr has changed the CMT formula in the past.

My bet is that you have nailed two of the important variables.

But I think you misunderstood. I wasn't speculating on how CMT is calculated now. What I wrote was meant was a proposal to dr for a POSSIBLE modification to the CMT process.

I think that your ideas make a lot of sense Pooga, but, the bills that take a long time to hit aren't neccessarily in circulation; they could be just sitting in an ATM for months on end. Perhaps that's why DR doesn't give a bonus for such hits(assuming that he doesn't already).

I wonder if you get brownie points for reporting every time a page error comes up.

Makes you wonder how the formula is made up, I do notice a ~10 jump in my CMT score when I do get a hit, I'll keep an eye on my score from now on.
