Hey fellow obsessives. ;o)
I was wondering if any of you have experience with metal detectors, or if you could recommend a good "brand". I'm talking about the ones a person passes over the ground in hopes of finding coins, etc.
As far as I know, Radio Shack (a.k.a. Rackety Shack) is the only place to buy one. Where else could I look? If I wasn't going second hand, that is… and is it worth it to go second hand? Doesn't seem to me they would wear out, would they?
Thanks,
cheezie
I have some info about that at work. I looked into it myself some time back. I was told the best place to look for coins with a metal detector is at a school playground. Generally, the best you can afford. Figures.
Crappy Tire (Cdn Tire) has them as well.
See if you can borrow one first. There's junk, workable stuff, and primo equipment. (I owned one that couldn't find a car under 2 inches of sand…) Often there are 'metalhound' clubs in some cities that look for stuff. (Look, if you can have a group that tracks money, you can have a group that finds junk). I'm pretty sure there's one in Saskatoon, I just don't know where they're located…
