I've noticed with the new notes (all denonminations), that small black lines that look like hair or eyelashes appear on them. They lines seem to appear on both the front and the back of the notes, but never in the same place. Has anyopne eles noticed this?
Maybe it is just the ink acting differently with the fabric of the notes.
are you sure you're not just having a stroke?…. :)
I guess I am having a stroke too. but I dont call them eyelash hair. I call them another type of hair. ;oP
and they ain't mine!!
Yes I have noticed them as well…And I thought masybe it was in error, but they all seem to have them…
I believe they're another way to foil the counterfeiters….though upon looking at a $5 I received at Zellers tonight, I can remove some of them and there appears to be a glaze(?) on the note.
OK……..after looking at several $5's I received today, all of mine that start with HN (HNY,HNN,HNZ,HNG,HNJ,HNL and HNS) from 2002 fit this profile. In my wallet is one with HOC that also has removable eyelashes.
Yes those "fibres" are used to foil counterfeiters. they replaced the green dots.
There are also invisible ones that if you put the bill under UV light they glow red ($10-100 glow yellow and red)
