Pooga
we are at 74.9 right now
And it's OUR gas! (well 75% Alberta, 25% Saskatchewan) You'd think to pump it to Vancouver or Montreal would make it more expensive there.
And the East gets the gold mine, the Prairies get the shaft.

Since we get a majority of our gas from the Arabs, the prices are high. Just because there a war threat over there the oil companies are frightened. If everything became peaceful overthere the price may drop to 40cents a litre. But I guess we will be paying high prices for a while.
So would you suggest then that the oil companies are behind the unrest in the Middle East just to keep the prices high?
Re gas prices. The price is always stated for regular gas. I haven't used that for years and I don't think I know anyone that does. The gas tank opening in my cars, currently and previously, have a smaller aperture which allows only premium gas. It may cost a bit more to manufacture and transport, but not consistently 10 cents more than regular gas. It's a good thing I live 4 blocks from work.
I think you mean leaded gas. It had a different size nozzle and so does diesel. It is probably recommended by the manufacturer that your doctor car run on premium. Come to a gathering and meet us regular folk. (I'm so punny :).. )
My boyfriend uses regular, while my dad will use nothing but premium. If I had my own car, I'd use premium, too. Once a person does the math, they'd see premium wins in the end. But I guess with "poor" people who can't afford to blow a lot of money at the pump, when they see they can fill their tank with something 10 cents a litre cheaper, they tend to do that.
But really, all they're saving is a few bucks on a full tank. Big deal. When you consider how much better premium is for your engine.. hmm.
Not sure what the mentality is for regular fuel.
As for the size of the gas tank opening, all newer cars have that, do they not? I mean, if a person had their own fuel tanks, they could buy a nozzle to fit their new car. Do they really still have the bigger nozzles out there? I don't pump gas… come to think of it, I've never pumped gas at a self-serve station… Sure, I've pumped farm fuel into tractors and such, but that's different.
And I'm babbling….
When you're down to your last dollar you have to decide, will it be gas or cheezies?
I choose cheezies.
Im going to try and clear up some confusion.
There is two sizes of nozzle's out there for pumps, one for Gas the other for Diesel, most places just use the gas one for the diesel pumps anyway.
Premium gas is not always better, if your car calls for regular, you should use it.The computers in newer cars these days can actually get messed up because of using a better grade gasoline, I personnaly use premium but that is because my car doesnt have a fancy computer to mess up
(its an El camino).
The cars that call for the premium fuel call for it because they have higher compression, and the higher the compression the more stable the fuel has to be to prevent pre-ignition(knocking).
Some advantages to using premium are rumoured to be fuel economy and more power, I do agree with the more power, but when you think about fuel economy, you are paying more to burn less fuel, so in the end it might cost the same anyway.
and thats all I have to say about that.
oh and Happy mothers Day to all the mothers out there!
clears it up for me. Gas prices today in Edmonton were 66.5 cents . Oh,…. for me 76.5.
68.9 today, when you have an old car, I don't think it would make much difference what type of gas you use, I used to occasionally use the premium just to see what would happen, more power yes, but can I afford to do this all the time. To clear up my last post I meant that if you're tight for cash and you still must buy gas, buy the cheapest and save the rest for food.
CB: and thats all I have to say about that.
But you didn't mention anything about ethanol blended fuels!
Supposedly burns cleaner, and helps prevent frozen gas lines in the winter.
Trouble is that it takes more energy to manufacture than you get from using it as a fuel!
Do you guys realize that since May 2nd, when MASTERRAISTLIN made the first post titled "hooked another gas jockey", his message helped spawn 60 others? The titles changed about 8 times.
What's the record on prolonging a thread's natural death?
A good question. Speaks to the flexibility and adaptability of the English language (and the uniqueness of the members of this site).
the uniqueness of the members of this site
And perhaps the fact that most people on the site are extroverts and everyone wants to have the last word?
In fact, taking the time to count the messages, title changes and topic changes is significant too!
what is this about the last word
I hope we have this much fun on the train!
Well we just went two and a half pages. This is the longest thread on our board now, for the time being.
ANGLO: Of course we would. I look at Saskatoon's past gatherings as an example. Things start slow as we meet strangers for the first time. We were getting to know people we've only 'met' in cyberspace after all. The common ground is money. Soon we moved on to other topics, and eventually we were laughing our heads off. (and causing dr just a little grief).
And Pooga will provide the suds. And bagpipes for sure.
Whats with everyone and their bagpipes. Every 2nd message is about bagpipes and between that it has to do with people playing bagpipes!!! Lol
Right on !!!! Now somebody start a new longer, smelly, gassy or windy one…
With bagpipes and Pooga's beer the music will be a blast.
And Serotonin's wit will add to the festivities..Let the the party begin..
"Serotonin's wit" ……sounds like the guy on Frasier.
