HOGGS:could we continue this on the first page?

But then we break the chain. And you know breaking a chain is bad luck!

The last Saskatoon gathering was held at the Saskatoon Armoury, while a military Pipes and Drum Band was practicing on the Armoury floor. It gave our group a unique background serenade.

Are we really going to let this thread end?

Hey MAGWER, what's the gas situation like with sows? Not as bad as cows?

I hear 'pig residue' could be the next 'big thing' on the prairies!

ANGLOFROG

Here I am again, gas went to an all time low of 66.2, now its at 72.4 ….I tried running my tank empty, I zeroed the odometer when the FUEL LOW light came on. I thought it would only get me to work and back at 10km, but soon I found myself running all over town to get to the yellow warning zone, at 30km and still going. I topped it up with a few dollars. Maybe I'll get the nerve to do it again soon. I didn't want to be stuck on the highway.

BDKINGSTON

I ran out of gas once on a trip to the states. It was an unusually windy day and I thought I had lots of gas to get me to the next town but with the load I had and the wind I was using a lot of gas and as the guage got lower and lower I began to worry that I would be walking. Times were somewhat tense to say the least. Anyway, I came over the crest of a hill and began down the hill when the truck died… I coasted down the hill (there was a town at the bottom of this long gentle grade) and into a gas station (thankfully just past the end of the long gentle grade) where I filled with gas and continued on my way..I was very lucky and elated that there was a gas station at the bottom of the hill..Can anyone top that..Will this keep this string running any longer???

Well, I don't think this tops that, but it comes close. We'd left Saskatoon after work and headed to Calgary in a Honda Civic. At Hanna we decided we had enough gas so kept going, because we'd always had enough gas to make the trip. Well I guess the third body in the car made that much difference. One in the morning and we'd missed the exit to Airdre (sp?) so we kept going. We made it up the 64th Street exit and into the parking lot of the mall and there was a Canadian Tire gas bar CLOSED. Well our destination was just down on Centre Street (just over and a block south of our current location). So we thought we'd just gas up in the morning. Well there was an incline to get back on the street and we couldn't make it up. Man do I like credit card activated pumps :)

I was in Maine. Fuel pump went on my car (Alfa Romeo Spyder). Top of hill, middle of no-where. Coasted down to the lone gas station. Towed 30 miles back to nearest town.

One windy spring day, with gusts into the 70 range I'm sure, my boyfriend and I took Dad's old blue truck for a rip to the pasture. It had enough fuel, we thought…

On our way back, about 2 miles from home, the truck started to chug-ugga, chug-ugga, chug… Luckily, my uncle lived only about 1/4 of a mile from where our truck was sputtering, so we limped it into his yard, and it died in front of his fuel tanks.

Sadly, there were locks on his tanks, and he wasn't home. We phoned Mom to come rescue us, though it took some time to catch her near the phone.

She brought enough gas to get us the 2.5 miles back home.

Funny part is, my uncle hadn't had fuel in his storage tanks for a long time, because people had been stealing gas from him. So even if his tanks hadn't been locked, we'd just have "the stuff that collects at the bottom". :o)

Back in about '87 a friend and I had taken an Army course in Petawawa, Ont. I had my car (from Saskatoon). When the course was over, we decided to drive to Nova Scotia. At some town near the Maine/New Brunswick border, we ran out of gas just as I was pulling up to the pump. Luckily, the car, a Lada, was light enough to push the last 20 feet.

A different kind of gas story…

In the early 80s, the brewery was undergoing a major expansion and renovation. One of the fermenting cellars was being upgraded, and this included closing off some passageways to other parts of the cellars. In this case it left the room with only one entrance/exit. Being on the safety committee, I complained to the company that it was an unsafe design, and there should be at least one emergency exit to the the exterior. I also insisted on an external ladder system on the outside of the building.

After going though my supervisor, the plant manager, and the division general manager, getting repeated rejection, my case got to head office. Somebody there finally agreed, and the changes were made.

About two weeks after the emergency exit and ladders were installed, some dumb plumber was installing new carbon dioxide lines and accidentally cut into a liquid ammonia line! It was a major leak, and some painters at the back of the room managed to get out using the newly installed exit.

Talk about being vindicated! It had the potential to be fatal without those exits!

Hey Serotonin Cool Car!

My gas story now.

I was Riding my old bike (1994 Honda CBR600 F2) from Regina to Fernie. The whole way I was at about 220 kp/h and I had trouble making it from One city to the next.

I made it from Regina to Swift Current I had almost depleted my reserve tank, but I made it there. I then tried for Medicine Hat, same thing again, except this time the Bike started to sputter with no powere at all.
I diddnt take any more chance the rest of the trip, actually I stopped in every town I came across, It was pouring rain the rest the way and I had to stop to warm up.

When I stopped in Lethbridge I picked up some Bags from the local Tim Hortons wrapped my feet in them put new socks on and continued on my way to the mountains in the pouring rain in the dark and late in the summer, I froze my ass off.

and that is my crappy running out of gas story.

One time my lawnmower ran out of gas in the middle of a job.. the lady gave me free gas!!! YAy

kaiser

On Thursday my lawnmower ran out of gas. It was the best day to mow, sunny, cool, the evening. So Friday I had to mow it and it was all cold and raining and there was fresh dog crap on the lawn that I had to go around. So that is the only gas story I have.

Another. I was travelling Europe. VW minivan. Malaga Spain. New to the country. Mistaken belief VW's had a special reserve gas tank activated from inside. Big mistake. Malaga, walk and talk in halting Spanish for a gas can/petrol. Felt 'mucho stupido'. Ended up living in Malaga for the next year.
