Congrats to AWHITTAK and POOGA for getting their first hits… and since you both now have hits, you now show up on the top 10 list for number of hits. Your score will also increase when I deploy the new version of the site as the new version CMT score will also be affected by the number of hits.

I got another one! 64 days this time. DR: how do I tell which user entered it? I think it was DASSZ. But it was in Regina, so that works out to about .2 kilometers an hour. Looking forward to seeing the speed category developed!

OK, I was checking out the hits, and found that only the person that first entered the bill is getting a hit? Is this right? I think it should be changed so that whenever there's a hit, 2 people get a hit on their record. If the bill then gets hits again, all 3 get a hit, and the first two people another hit. Maybe I'm missing something, though. Clarification?

Pooga

I haven't seen any bills with more than 1 hit. But DR should answer that. I'm with you… all users who have entered a bill should get credit for a hit, EXCEPT for the last one to enter it. So if another user enters the one that just hit for me in Regina, then both DASSZ and I should get credit for a hit. I can't see DASSZ getting credit for a hit when he entered the bill the first time. But I would like to figure out a way see WHO did the entering on hit bills! Like in the bill history.. a column with the user who entered the bill. Or is that a bit like invasion of privacy???

DR: I see you got another one! They're coming in fast for you now! Another one of your Gagetown bills too!

Okay, here's the scoop on hits (since you were all asking). Heh, actually there is no scoop really. The way it works right now is that if someone enters in one of the bills I initially entered, I get a hit. The person entering it for the second time (creating my hit) does not. That, to me, makes sense and is fair. If that original bill is entered a third time, the person who originally entered the bill is the only one who get's credit for the hit. This does indeed seem a little unfair, so when the time comes that we get a bill with multiple hits, I may create another list of hits which includes all the people associated with bills with hits.

What I want to avoid is a newbie getting a string of good luck and getting four b-zillion "hits" from being part of something that was started by another user, when all they did was enter the bill and spend it, as opposed to the guy/girl who took the time to write the URL on the bill and such. But feel free to disagree with me. But as I said, at this time it's a bit of a moot point since there are no bills with multiple hits, and as I said to be honest, I'm not yet sure how we should tackle the problem… yet.

Comgrats on the first multiple hit! Hmmm… Maybe what's needed is a second category? The originator gets credit for the 'hit' and others along the line (but not the last one of course!) get credit for an 'assist'. I'm not too certain of that one… could get a bit compicated. Say an 'assist' is worth 25% of a 'hit' in the CMT score??? What do they do over at 'Whereswilly'???

I agree with POOGA, this idea of assists sounds good. But I also think, on the other hand, that each successive person still goes to the trouble of logging in and entering the bill's information. The only extra thing that the first person did was write the URL on the bill. (Right? Or am I forgetting something?) Also, if the successive people get points for each bill that they enter, it would provide an incentive for them to keep the bill in play, rather than hording it. (Heaven forbid anyone should get THAT competitive!) Either way sounds good to me, but I think the successive people should at least get something.

By the way, "Hi, All!"

Plus, the first person to enter a particular bill into the database is not necessarily going to be the first person to write the URL on it. That part in the FAQ about not defacing bills almost scared me off of writing on them - almost. :)
