New $10 prefix - FEP (new $10 note)

I e-mailed dr with the new prefix.

My bank teller told me they are sending all the old $10's that they receive for shredding because of so many counterfeit $10 notes.

Does this mean they plan to shred all old $10s, even those in good condition? I did read in the paper that with the new $10s becoming available, the expectation was that the old 10s would disappear within the year. That's not good news for trackers who have a lot of 10s in circulation. Just last Thursday (May 19)I got 5 uncirculated (old) 10s from my bank.

Yup its true but they will still be around for some time.
Today at a carshow I saw a old multi-colour $2 in the cash register. (thats like 15 years old)

The Bank of Canada says on their website, that they intend to replace the old 10's with the new ones within one yr.

I was told the same thing at my bank on Friday - all 10's that get deposited are sent back and new style 10's are to be given out - We get 7 - 10 counterfiet 10's every week at my work so I don't blame the bank but it sucks that all those marked bills go away.

ps. guess who gets any bills that look fake - the people who put in $2.00 gas but pay with a $100.00 bill !!!

They dont necessarily shred them if they are good still. I have deposited marked 100's and gotten them back more than once. these were the old ones. they said the same thing about the 100's.

That would be a shame if they would get rid of them. Hopefully they stay around for longer still just like the $20 bills.

It is disappointing to know those bills won't be around… I have to admit pukpukg, I've done the same thing at my job. It makes you kinda feel better about standing in the rain to pump their $2 gas!

I'm shocked and appalled! I would never do that to a customer- I give our bogus ones to the bank. I just put them in the deposit- they almost never catch 'em. BTW we almost never see bogus 10s we get mostly bird series 20s.
