Hey there ANGLOFROG. The Bank Of Montreal did a complaint to my company this morning, stating that they won't take anymore money that is stamped… So no need to say that my boss is NOT HAPPY AT ALL AT ME …
So i'll continue entering bills but A WHOLE LOT LESS than before… :(
Hey Bob,
I hope your boss didn't fire you!
How were you distributing your bills? Most of us who work in stores, I don't think they have their marked bills going back to the bank. The bills you stamp should be the ones going back out to your customers. If the bank has been getting back all these bills, they do have to send them back out, it looks bad on them I guess. When I have to deposit money to my bank, these bills are not marked. I either enter the serial number or just let it go. The bank has the right to destroy any bills they see not fit for reuse. Although marking bills is not illegal, the bank can be touchy. I hope the branch you deal with is not the same as mine, though I've yet to see any marked bills from a bank.
Anyways, with your valiant effort we managed to move Quebec to fourth place for # entered. That should hold. For now, put away your debit card and just deal with cash, except for rent and bills this is what I do. Get a bundle every now and then, it'll boost your score.
Read the posts and see how other users here work with their bills.
We should form a team.
Sorry to hear you got busted by your boss Bob the great. Oh well follow ANGLOFROG's advise and keep the faith….
Well actually I must tell you that my immediate boss didn't mind me stamping the bills. So i was stamping all the ones that I could get. My boss's boss got the call from the bank… So today I did just what you're telling me. I stamp only bills that I pass on to clients. I wrote the serials of bills that stayed in the cash at the end of my day, but they're not marked. Anyways i'll keep entering bills, don't worry. It's just that I want to move Quebec in the top three so much…
Most of my bills go back to the bank (Royal Bank on Lenore Dr) and we, luckily, haven't had any complaints. Usually I try to to have all the bills face up(b/c I just stamp the back) and that way they don't notice.
Militant that I am, I would go to the bank and ask them: "on what basis are you refusing these bills?" I have had a couple of run ins with banks now (actually self-important tellers who think they own the money supply). If they want to argue about the legality of marking bills, I have found that the 'in your face' attitude works best. "If you think I have broken the law, you need to call the police, if you don't, you need to apologize" works for me. I had one teller start spouting off nonsense about 'banks being authorized to protect Bank of Canada currency' I had to ask her what the Bank of Canada would think about a chartered bank refusing legal tender on this basis (a few marks on the bill). You could see her lapse into a confused state mutter something about 'we'll see about this', and started counting my deposit. I have found these folks will never be happy unless they think they can intimidate you. I'm too old to take that kind of crap anymore.
boy am I glad(in a way) that I'm not a bank teller. I sure wouldn't want Idjit "in my face"….that would be scary!(those of you who know Idjit know how big and intimidating he is)
If I had the autority I surely would do it. But I just want to be in good terms with the boss. I'm not the one who drops the money at the bank…
I know what you mean. My boss got drawn into some petty office politics where I work and he asked me to stop stamping at work. No problemo- there's plenty of ways to stamp bills, and I still spend my marked bills at work, since he can't stop that. But at one point the bank was making noise about it, and I went directly to them and took 'em up on it. My own bank needed a little educating too. My point is, and I don't know why it's this way, banks often think we are there to serve them, instead of the other way around. I think it's time we demand the service we are paying for. Just check out the profits banks rake in. Don't get me wrong, profit is good- only banks better provide the service they charge for, or we need to start taking them to task for it. It's a shame, but I've found if you allow someone to walk over you, they will.
maybe we users in saskatoon could send letters to the bank manager's explaining what we do and citing some quotes from the WW articles saying it's not illegal. Just an idea….
Perhaps it could be part of the home page. Or a link to this.
maybe those people that work in the bank could get a life my wife has been working in the bank since 1978 they used to send money back for no good reason like minor rips and such but years ago they got told to only send back the really ragged ones and I mean ragged they even tape a lot of the bills where she works
HOGGS: The period, "." , is an important piece of punctuation. It allows a person to take a breath.
Speaking of which, has anybody ever listened to Victor Borge's "Phonetic Punctuation"?
A real side-splitter!
Is that on the internet or in a book?
Actually, I have it on this round black thing. It's called an 'LP' or a 'record'.
You got to hear the usage of the F word. Halarious. Its by monty python, I may be able to send it to you through MSN if you have.
sp: hilarious
As good as George Carlin's original "Seven Words You Never Hear On Television"?
