entry limits

Here's the scoop on daily bill entry limits. Anyone who is has a rank of "User" of better has an unlimited entry limit. Junior Users have a limit of 25, Senior Newbies have a limit of 15, Dedicated Newbies have a limit of 10 and everyone else is set at 5, including brand new users.

If I missed any of the "regular users" and your limit is still at the default level of 5, please let me know via email.

Would you make exceptions for the honest newbies that have been around for a bit, but now find themselves restricted?

Faarley and I went shopping yesturday, he paid. Now it will take him 8 days to enter all his fives.

What about that new user a few days ago, they have some good cashflow from their small business, entering just 5 a day they'll likely take their business elsewhere.

Say if faarley just got paid and got a bundle of fives, it would take 20 days to enter all these, then there's next payday in just 14 more days. What now?

And unless one is a regular user, it now takes at least 4 days to enter a bundle. Meantime, what about all those missed hits?

How long do these restrictions last?

Can a new user/newbie join a team with a regular unrestricted user and bypass these limits?

If you read the entry limit page, it says to email me with details if you think you should be excluded from the limit. If someone vouches for a person, and I trust that person, then I would probably up their limit. So, for example, one of my SCUBA diving friends signed up this week so I gave him unlimited entry once he reached that mark, saw the page, and then emailed me about it. The point is, as I've said before, to reduce the number of bad entries by a new user. And since most nmew users only come and go, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. In looking at the 81 new users since Monday, only 14 entered in a bill other than the one that produced a hit, and only 6 of those people entered in more than that. So over all only a handful of people have even reached the limit and seen the entry limit page. So I think we're okay.

One suggestion… from a design stand point… Have the code that does the 'add a bill' page check to see if the user is at their limit before it displays the page so they can't enter the sixth, or whatever bill and then get the "Sorry" page.

That way when someone enters bills through out the day they and have forgotten how many bills they have entered they don't get confused and miss a bill they though got entered when they got the "Sorry" Page.

Hi dr,

I am writing to you to request that you remove the bill entry
restriction for faarley right away. He has a lot of bills to catch up
on and then theres always next payday. Neither he nor I intend to
enter false bills nor make claims of hitting bills falsely.

Also faarley has scanned in a bill to be used in the bill gallery. I
look forward to seeing it in the next edition of the bill scans.

The sooner faarley's limit is lifted the sooner he can track his bills. For now, he'll be at the other site where there isn't a problem.
