NICKEL SIZED HAIL HAS BEEN REPORTED ...

4 miles south of town they had an inch of rain we never had any in town but it sure cooled down nice. For about an hour it was 20 degrees and cloudy nice break from 30 degrees

Hey Crazy Dwarf, I have to agree with you. I like things cooler, too. Any time I see the forcast for 30+, I melt in my chair. Whilst partner-in-life says, "Great biking weather!" He's nuts, I tells ya. I hate heat. Makes me very cranky and bitchy.

I'd rather it be cold, so I can keep adding clothes. When it's hot, a person can only take so many off before it gets ugly.

Spring and fall… now those are the sane seasons.

a sweaty cheezie (how pleasant is that?)

CalamityJanet

I think I can beat you.

I don't function over 25 degrees, so how about this:

Make it muggy
work on renovations inside your house
with no air conditioning
+

PMS
I'm surprised I'm still married this morning.

OK try this one: coveralls, full set of clothes, gloves, work boots, welding helmet, and a torch in your hands for 8 hours a day. And I'm called yeti (by my so called friends) due to a genetic fur coat.

BOY OH BOY did I pick the wrong profession!

Crazy Dwarf

I used to work with concrete on +40 days in a building that was heated to around 110F. I only kept that job for 2 years, sweated of all my fat and said goodby to that job. I should go back and get it again though, I could use the weight loss again:)

cheezie

I suppose the worst job I've done was cleaning out a steel granary, when it was too hot outside, and too DARN hot inside. Plus all the fine grain dust that would stick to your skin and make you itch, with sweat pouring down, making mud slides… of course, normally we're smarter and clean the bin out in the cool of the day.

And though I never did it, my sister shovelled pig sh*t everyday after school (they were her pigs, so she did all the work)… she came in looking like a pig herself. On really hot days, she'd be all sweaty and dirty, and had to be in coveralls because of the nature of the job.

Come to think of it, another bad time is trying to do chores during mild winter days, when it's almost at the freezing point. Picture yourself dressed in your skidoo suit, work gloves, felt-lined rubber boots. Working up a sweat. Too hot to stay dressed, but it's still too cold to undress. And you need the gloves to protect your hands, and the suit to protect your clothes.

Now I'm just boring. I'll be quiet now.

ANGLOFROG

Not that boring really, sometimes I wish I could trade jobs for a bit so I can lose some weight. It would be great to get meat and produce directly from a farm too, considering that the chicken we get in stores these days has to be seasoned like heck to taste any good. I saw a goat being killed once, I could not believe it. The youngest kid there did it, she was 11 yrs old. but what do I know, I'm just city folk.

My sister worked on a farm once, Junior Agriculturist was her title. Instills good work ethics I'd say, she came home and was cooking, baking and doing chores all day. One time she lost her glasses, claiming the pigs ate them. "pig ate my glasses". I never laughed so hard. Not to worry, the glasses had plastic lenses.

I'll still take this time of year when compared to a 'normal' Saskatchewan winter.

Mid 20's for temp, days with light wind (no wind at all is a myth in SK!). Golf is good. Beer is better. No snow to shovel (hmmm.. I'm a poet, and don't know it!). And at this time of year, I love sitting on the deck at midnight and seeing that blue sky on the northern horizon! And of course, the Northern Lights!

Has anyone ever seen the 'Green Flash' just before sunrise? I THINK I've seen it once. Just before dawn, there is a momentary flash of green on the horizon that lasts just a fraction of a second. An rare and awesome sight! Blink, and you miss it.

Crazy Dwarf

That all sounds good, but I would prefer to do all that in the middle of winter. I hate summer!!! -30 or so is where I like it.

BDKINGSTON

Minus 30 is definitely not good weather for golf nor is it a good time to sit outside and drink beer as you can freeze your fanny. I would much rather have summer and enjoy all the activities that go with summer, but winter does give us all a much needed rest from all of the summer activities. All in all, I love summer but I also enjoy winter. Ooh my golly I just realized I enjoy the whole year including all of the seasons, and even some of the nasty days because a change is sometimes as good as a rest.

Pooga

but I would prefer to do all that in the middle of winter

Only if I'm in the tropics! No golf in winter, have to wear too many clothes. Plus, I'm in the beer business. Winter sales are only a quarter of what they are in the summer. I'd be bankrupt in about 2 weeks!

30 degrees or higher is a bit much (like last week!), but the low to mid 20s (and low humidity) is heavenly.

Crazy Dwarf

no you see when you have the stuffing like I do you don't need all those layers of clothes, you just go outside sit down with your drink stare into the sky and watch you breath.

Pooga

Summer lovin', had me a blast…

And like the song said… fewer clothes to worry about…. more location variety… at the VERY least, the window shopping is nicer by the pool! I much prefer to look at a bikini than a parka!

HOGGS

Sounds like there is room to promote more beer sales in wintergot a job for me Pooga?

Pooga

Sounds like there is room to promote more beer sales in winter

Not a matter of promotion. In Saskatchewan people switch to whiskey during the winter. Most people need that extra anti-freeze in their system. (I too am guilty of this!)

BTW - Our Regina rep just quit last week. So there is an opening there if anyone is interested!

Pooga

Hint: Beer reps do NOT drink beer while on the road. The RCMP have a habit of staking out small town hotels (adding to small town economic woes). It wouldn't do to smell like a brewery while driving from town to town. Therefore, to be sociable, beer reps drink vodka.

HOGGS

Is that all you have to do is sip vodka sounds like a job for me. What is the compensation?

Serotonin

Winter is what really binds the Canadian identity. I lived in Victoria for 5 years. Watching the rest of Canada fight snow and blizzards, on the evening news made me feel less Canadian; so I moved back to Edmonton.

kaiser

Ya, all of Vancouver Island is like that. Except in 1996-97 we had a blizzard with 4 feet of snow. Most we'll get for decades to come.

Shoshana

I just love Sask. summers although when it hits 38 I have to spend the rest of the day either inside or in the pool because extreme temperatures bother my MS. But I have to say that Saskatchewan Summers beat Alberta Summers everytime!!
