New Bills

I remember us talking about the condition of new $10's a while back. Well already I can see that some of the new $5's I get in at work are in terrible condition as well, probably one out of five. Do people not belive in wallets anymore? Or maybe because I work at a dollar store people have less respect for their bills. Just a thought!

You gotta wonder some time. I think that those of us who frequent this site have a certain (learned?) respect for money. Not just the idea of money, but the physical manifestation of it, the bills.

I had a nice crisp new bundle of bills that I spent out of an envelope instead of my wallet. Why? Because I didn't want to bend them! Weird, eh?

Paid for a beer on a golf course a couple of weeks ago with one of these virgin bills. The salesgirl took the bill, wadded it up into a ball, and shoved it into her pocket! I could almost hear that poor bill scream in agony! I didn't feel too much better either.

I know. I'm addicted.

I'm totally one of those people who love money, but too often those new bills have stuck together and I'm in no hurry to hand out free money! I bend or fold every new bill I get.
Sorry Guys.

I'm glad I'm not the only one Pooga.

I'm always amazed when kids come into the store to buy candy and they throw a bill on the counter that has been crumpled up into a little ball- no respect. These same kids often walk away from you when you hand them their change. Sometimes it's just a few cents, other times it's over a buck. I think they are trying to impress me with their 'superiority'. What a joke…

As if it's a million dollars that they gave you, hey Idjit?? They think they are rich by giving you a fiver? Or is it just that they gave you a crumpled bill just to make you angry, so they think they're cool.. There's alot of kids around here that do that also, think they are higher than everyone.. Hahaha…

Crazy Dwarf

I wouldn't know what that's like, the place that I work the kids come in and spend evey last cent that they can, then ask if they can buy a 5 cent candy for 2 cents. when I say no they take the penneys with them to go hunting the streets for a couple more to spend.

When I receive a crumpled bill when working at the Liquor Store, I usually take my time to carefully unfold it in front of the customer before I continue with the transaction. It annoys them if they are waiting for change.

Idjit

Ha! thats funny! I do the same thing. Another thing that ticks me off is when people throw money at you. It's tempting to throw their change back at them, but I usually drop it on the counter instead.
I'm from the old school- those that actually count the change back to the customer; I've had kids rip the money out of my hands when I do this, at which point I grab them by the arm and explain that I haven't counted it yet, so I take it back and do it v e r y s l o w l y. Some parents just havn't taught their kids manners yet, so they have to learn it from store clerks.

I always unfold my bills. I wait patiently for te change. I'm the type of customer every clerk would like.

I get some kids who like to nickel, dime and penny me to death. However, it all depends on how they give you the money. If they just chuck it on the counter I make them count it, it they at least try to count then I'll give them a hand. It all comes back to manners.

Crazy Dwarf

One guy I used to work with was very funny, when someone would come in and be rude and say they were in a hurry, he would take his time punching everything into the till, untill they interupted him saying to hurry up. then he would push cancel and start all over again every time. I don't know why some people didn't like him:)

way to go…. I think this is teaching RESPONSIBLE attitude towards money in general. Too many people take money & bills for granted. By the way….does anyone know what the life time of an average bill is?????

Creed

I think someone on here once said about a year! Though I am not exactly sure…

Its so anoying when the price is $4.92 and you pay with a 10. U get a 5 some change and a reciept. its all one handfull so i just stick it in my pocket. At the end of the day i think i have spent all my money and i empty out my pockets and there is a compost of 5s and pennys! itsnt life wonderfull?

Respect money, it's hard to come by, even harder to keep. Life expectancy: $5-1 yr. $10-1 yr. $20-2 yr. $50-5yr.$100-8yr. With this new series however, I wonder.
