Question

Is it ok if I get a friend, who won't join the site, to give me the serial numbers of his bills and mark them. But the weird thing is, he lives in Ottawa. I also might be able to convince him after a while.

You all have to of read this by now. If I do this, I can hook this guy in a few days and get Ottawa.

It seems a little wacky to be honest. You'll have bills in your list from potentially two different places on opposite sides of the county at roughly the same time. If you are sure your friend will sign up, then I would prefer that you register another user and enter his bills under that user. Then if he gets hooked, he can use that account… and if he doesn't like the username, I can change it for him. And if he doesn't then your entry list hasn't been tainted with bills that really never came into your possession.

But if you are only doing this to try and get a user in Ottawa, I wouldn't worry about it. As I've said over and over and over, more users doesn't mean more hits for individuals, it just means more users. I firmly believe that growing naturally as we have to date has allowed this site to maintain the high level of quality users that we have now. If someone doesn't want to join the site, then I don't want them… and we certainly don't want to force them per se. :)
